He was an adventurous derg when he was much younger, he wandered all over Sorineth.

While in the Southern Icefield he got caught in a really bad blizzard, when he came to he was surprised to find himself in a new shape and his body was deformed from exposure.

This new body wasn't made for the cold and it made him drowsy, so he flew as far as he could until he passed out in a snow drift.

found him and brought him back to their then residence.

He slowly awoke to find a snout of another derg pointed right at him.

A parka of warm fur was draped around him, and he was close to a fireplace.

The unfamiliar derg quickly poured something into a cup and placed it in front of him.

The cup was bigger than his whole body, what was he supposed to do with it?

He eyed the cup warily, not sure if it was something that was safe to drink, but when the derg noticed his hesitance to drink some, they poured a cup of the stuff for themselves.

Hesitantly he dipped his head into the gargantuan cup and lapped up a few drops.

The liquid was actually quite good, and strangely he felt warmer after ingesting only a few drops.

The derg then told that it was something called hot chocolate, it was a popular beverage in the area.

He knew what chocolate was, but he never knew it could be turned into a drink such as this!

The Veil drunk about halfway down in the cup and then curled up to sleep once again.

As he drifted off he was faintly aware of the derg coming and taking the cup from its resting place.


A few weeks later he was back to his old self and ready to travel again.

The derg told him that they were heading back home to the Windswept Plateau, and was wondering if he wanted to come with him since the cold seemed to do a number on him.

After quiet deliberation he accepted the derg's offer, staying warm in their satchel until they got to warmer parts of Sorineth, from then on riding on the derg's shoulder.

During the night he slept close to the other derg to stay warm, the other derg didn't seem to mind and curled around him to help even more.

Finally they arrived at the Windswept Plateau, their journey was complete.

(This is either a random derg that then parts ways with him, or this is one of my explorers like BLizzy or something!
Leaning heavily towards his rescuer being her, as it would explain how he got here!)
