Biography

Baku Tusk Oneiri
the phantom
Also spelled Oneiroi, a small group of greek gods that embodied dreams and nightmares, including Phantasus; I pronounce it like ŌWN-ēr-ē, though I'm fairly sure its not actually pronounced that way
Ghostly Aura

Former participant in W*ndigo's Song

It was clear right out of the egg that Oneiri would never fly like his father. Which was a hard thing to do, anyway, given that his father was one of the most powerful wind mages the clan had seen, not to mention their leader. Nevertheless, his wings were tiny things and Aural could tell that the magic in the tiny mirror was weak in comparison to his three sisters; it didn’t matter that two of them were faes; it was clear who the runt of the nest was.

Oneiri grew to be a reserved and laid-back fellow, and proved to be rather accepting of his wing’s limitations. Getting anywhere with his wings took considerable effort, so he grew fleet of foot instead. He preferred to work in the background, a gentle soul willing to do any odd job his clanmates asked of him. There was a ruggedness to him if he was pushed, but few dragons ever saw it. The fae blood from his mother’s side show itself in his expressive face, with a tendency to flare his throat and crests and other minute changes while in conversation.

Oneiri has done a fair bit of wandering and wind-chasing, though the most significant of his travels brought him into contact with one of Sorneith’s more powerful beasts: an ancient Baku named Phantasus. They were intrigued by each other, Oneiri by the Baku’s ambient power, the Baku by the normally savage mirror’s submissive personality. They keep running into one another, and soon found the start of a familiar’s bond growing between them. The closer they grew the more of the Baku’s abilities seeped across, augmenting Oneiri’s wind magic. While he’ll never be a true dreameater, he’s found himself able to step into the dreams of other dragons and prod at a sleeping dragon’s mind over considerable distances. The most powerful magic he can only cast when Phantasus deigns to aid him, when the Baku isn’t wandering the ethereal planes without him. At first he couldn’t take the mirror wholly into the planes, but over short durations he can pull him into a different state, during which Oneiri becomes ghostlike in appearance and physical objects (not breath attacks) pass through him. The magic can typically only be held long enough for an unexpected blow to pass through him and takes immense focus, though the pair are ever-trying to develop their shared abilities. More recently Oneiri has gained the ability to travel great distance over the planes, though the effort exhausts him and cannot be repeated very often.

Through all these changes in his life Oneiri has grown in confidence, though is never cocky. He remains the gentle dragon that is content to follow and stay by another dragon’s side through the good and the bad, for as long as his companion’s acknowledge that he is an independent party that sees only his father as his superior and commander.

-occasionally used to carry long-distance messages through plane-shifting

-has some influence over dreams and can contact clanmembers through them or dispell nightmares to varying success

-can touch ghosts and spirits directly, as well as communicate with most of them -first brought Dusān to clan, will put story together later
