Dryft was a fairly sedate hatchling, but far from sedentary. His wings felt awkward for quite a long time, so instead he crawled around, slowly and clumsily, for much of his true youth. At times, other Organization members would laugh and call him their little turtle, and he thought it was nice to make them laugh and smile.

But the weight of the Organization started feeling more and more uncomfortable as he grew older, and once he hit draconic maturity, he knew it was time to leave. So he left - he spread his wings and launched into the sky minutes before sunrise, leaving the Magmablood Rebuke behind him once and for all.

As he flew over new territory, using his once-awkward wings on pure instinct, he looked out over the land with wide eyes, already wondering what might be waiting for him down there. He went first to the north, flying high over the bright, green territory of the Wind flight - and as joyous as that experience was, Dryft was still unaccustomed to flight, and the winds there blew him far, far off-course, over a vast, open ocean.

Dryft knew better than to try turning around and mastering the winds, and really, he didn't much care to. All of the world was exciting - did it matter where he started? So he flew in this new direction, and long after his wings had gotten tired, he saw land - the edges of the Sunbeam Ruins.

He landed there less than gracefully, and spent the evening curled up in the fork of a tree, exhausted but still elated to be free. The next day, he flew in further, sure there was something yet better to find - and when he stopped, it was at the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. He gazed at it in awe, able to see the Lightweaver in all her splendor.

Dryft quickly joined one of the clans lairing near the Beacon, but he's found that he's rarely home. Now that he has his freedom, his urge - his need - to explore has taken hold, and he's determined to explore every inch of the Sunbeam Ruins again and again, with some occasional trips instead to the Viridian Labyrinth and the Shifting Expanse for some variety.
