xxxxxThe Southern Icefields weren't originally her homeplace. All she remembers is waking up one day in the Starfall Isles alongside Roershak, a Mirror dragon about her age, and Viatrix, a wandering Storm Seeker who became interested in the amnesiac. She adored the area—a place full of dreams and chasing after knowledge—and she quickly befriended the two who provided her company. And although it was such a beautiful place, a place of wonderment and joy, for some reason she just never felt at home. xxxxxIt wasn’t long before this two-dragon ‘clan’ became larger as she accepted many wandering hatchlings and dragons into her care. With each exchange of glances, all she provided was a smile, never once asking about their past, instead taking them under her wing if they needed a place to call home. Amongst the original newcomers were a curious Skydancer named Marbeline who wanted to expand his knowledge on magic, and a beautiful Coatl named Irineiya. Irineiya was young and naïve, but something about him attracted the young Guardian, and something about her attracted him. They would exchange quick glances before wandering off, whispered secret words to the other, and everybody in the then-tiny clan knew that the two had fallen in love. It wasn’t surprising when the two had laid a nest of three eggs. What did come as a surprise, however, was that only two ever hatched. One wandered off to search for another clan as soon as she was able, and the other remained. She was but a small, blue Guardian whom Calmevir named Sol the moment she laid eyes on her. Sol, the sun of her life. xxxxxThe death of the third, however, caused Irineiya to fall silent. Oh how Sol made him happy even after the other left right away, but things were never the same. Day after day he became more and more quiet, until finally he stopped speaking all together. No amount of coaxing from his mate could convince him to speak, and one night he simply vanished, never to be heard from again. The morning of his disappearance, Calemvir stared at the shallow imprint of where he once lay. She could feel the tears well up in her eyes, but before a single drop could fall… xxxxx“Mama?” xxxxxImmediately, the Guardian turned to look at her tiny daughter and she smiled. Now was not the time to mourn… What mattered was her growing clan and beloved daughter. Despite the brave face she tried to wear, however, the now-grown Marbeline would sit with her during her moments of silence, speaking in a gentle voice that finally allowed those tears to fall down her cheeks. When she needed to wear that mask, he would eagerly accompany the dragon on whatever task she needed to achieve, or looked after the mischievous Sol as she grew older and subsequently larger. He never once left the mother's and daughter's side through this time, beginning what would be a life-long friendship the three would share. xxxxxStill, the feeling she had when she first awoke returned. With her ever-growing clan, her beautiful daughter, and a loyal friend by her side, Calemvir simply could help but deny any feelings of satisfaction. Something within her was shouting at her to go, to go somewhere, anywhere. Leaving the clan to Roershak, kissing her daughter goodbye, and waving farewell to Marbeline, she took off… xxxxxShe followed her instincts, allowing them to guide her across the Starfall Isles to the plagued Wasteland. She wandered the deserts of the home of all dragons, indulged in the fruits of the Viridian Labyrinth. She got lost amidst the glowing wonders of the Tangled Woods, and swam amongst the creatures in a sea of a Thousand Currents. She explored the sunlit Ruins and danced around lightning through the never-ending Expanse. She admired the drifting ashes of the Wastes, and soared across the powerful winds of a Plateau. She wandered across these otherworldly lands until a cold breeze caught her attention. Across the sea… Across the sea she saw white, and without even giving it a second thought she spread her wings took to the skies. She soared across the ocean, through clouds that slowly became colder with every passing moment, until she finally saw land. xxxxxSlowing her glide, she allowed her claws to meet the ground beneath her. It was… White. Cold and white but beyond she could see patches of grass poking through this snow, and as she gazed ahead to the towering mountains far ahead, she knew. xxxxxHome, her real home had been so much closer than she ever would have thought. xxxxxAnd immediately she returned, a light shining brightly within her eyes as she told tales of the Southern Icefields, as she spread news of their beauty and majesty. They were certainly the most sublime things she had ever seen, and asked her clan if they would return to the fields with her should they receive the Icewarden's blessing. xxxxxMany agreed to accompany her, but Roershak and a few others, having known only the Isles, declined and said they would remain to serve the Arcanist. Immediately upon hearing this news, Calemvir looked at her lifelong friend, all light drained from her eyes. Roershak, the only one she had any ties with to her past, the first with whom all her memories began, to leave him behind? She wanted to say no, that she would just stay behind with her close friend and companion, but he raised a claw and silenced the Guardian immediately. xxxxx“A Guardian’s charge is their life, and your heart never belonged here, Calemvir,” the Mirror said, looking her straight in the eyes. “I will not allow you to give up your happiness for me.” xxxxxCalemvir shook her head, clenching her jaw and closing her eyes, trying her hardest but failing to keep the tears at bay. xxxxx“I’ll miss you, dear friend…” she whispered. Roershak smiled. xxxxx“And I, you…” xxxxxShortly after receiving the Icewarden's blessing, Calemvir's bid a final farewell to those who would remain, engraving the sad smile upon Roershak’s maw into her memories before she finally faced forward and flew onward. They arrived at the Frigid Floes, finding residence on some giant ice caps and making their home there. With the passing time, Calemvir continued to bring wandering dragons and lost hatchlings into her care and found that their current residence was far too small to accommodate the growing clan. As the clan grew only larger and larger, each spurt of growth forced them to change their location. They moved towards the Snowsquall Tundra, fought through the Cloudscape Crags, and finally arrived at their final destination, a place nobody ever figured could provide a decent home—a cave system located in The Fortress of Ends. Waiting at the entrance was a large, snow-colored Imperial, ready to chase away any unworthy of this new home, until she locked gazes with the Arcane-borne Guardian. She stepped aside to let them through, and after giving the cave a preliminary check, knew this would be perfect for an ever-growing home. The weather proved brutal and inhospitable for some, however, and they chose to move out, but those who chose to remain made themselves comfortable within the many tunnels of the cave. With everybody teaming up to aid one another, they were able to tidy up the frozen caverns into hospitable areas to live comfortably, store enough food and water to spare for any passersby, to overall have a decent life. xxxxxToday, Calemvir serves as the High King of her clan, though thinks King is a bit grandiose for her and refers to herself as “High Alpha,” instead. Alongside Sol, her daughter and Baron of the clan, and Marbeline, the Chemist, the three have formed The Trinity, a trio who serves as the main protectors of their clan. After discovering the name of the region this place once was thanks to Verglas, the snow-colored Imperial, this home came to be known as Clan Istaeoria. xxxxxA clan whose name means Mystical Friend, which the High King Calemvir aims to be a place where any wandering dragon can join and feel both safe and comfortable, and most of all—welcomed. • Strong-Willed || Forgiving || Kind • xxxxxIn technicality, the current location of Clan Istaeoria is her charge, but sometimes the others tend to believe that her actual charge is her very own daughter, Sol. xxxxxOverall, Calemvir is a very gentle dragon, accepting of every soul that comes by their clan. She serves as the clan's main defender, often putting herself in the front lines to protect her clan from any incoming attacks. Since Sol is her last remaining family member, she is quite protective over her, despite knowing fully well that she is able to manage for herself. Sol is her light, her meaning to life, and she would give anything for her daughter. xxxxxAs the High King she oversees the diplomacy between all dragons and personally sees to diffusing any conflicts that may arrive. She makes it her duty to greet every new dragon who comes across the lair, whether they decide to stay or not, and always tries her hardest to make sure they feel at home. xxxxxOutside of her duty as High King, Calemvir works as the main guard, posted right outside of her clan's lair alongside Jacarandifolia and Verglas, as well as the many Ice Sculptures who have called Clan Istaeoria their place of eternal protection to ensure no dragon ever comes to harm.
