Oceanus the Wavebreaker; Divine personification of the sea.
The star-crossed lovers of the Tsunami Flats. Bound together as hatchlings in neighboring tidal pools, Tethys and Oceanus had made a home in one another. Oceanus was a rarity among his shoreline clan; he was born with control over the surf and breaking waves. From a young age he sharpened his Water magics until eventually, the shallows he called home no longer offered him the guidance he needed to reach his full potential, and Oceanus left Tethys behind, joining Clan Abyss in the reaches of the Leviathan Trench in order to continue refining his magic. Much time passed when he came back for Tethys, but the night he returned was particularly stormy, full of stray winds from the Windsinger's western shore. The waves turned violent and aggressive, crashing down on the coast of the Flats. The tide pool which Tethys lived in quickly submerged in the flooding, and she was thrown out into the sea, into treacherous waves that she could not swim against. The magic that Oceanus held so dear to him was not enough to rage against such cruel currents, and even he could do nothing to bring Tethys back to him. Oceanus immediately went out searching for her once the worst of the tempest had passed, but she was already far gone from him. Ever since that night, he wanders the Sea of a Thousand Currents in search of her. It is said that the tempest follows Tethys to this day, forever keeping her apart from Oceanus. |
