Biography

I am tireless pursuit across the grass, an awareness of danger between the trees. I am a sharp bite of pain around the throat, claws digging into the flank. I am Fang, and I hunt for the Grove.

I am Sight. I circle high above our Grove as both watcher for danger and ward against it; or else I conceal myself in the treetops for hours or days and watch for migratory patterns, new species, and population booms.

Without the guidance of Arwyn, I am nearly uncontrollable. I can be as wild as the woods I call home and as savage as any of the Plaguebringer's diseases. I have been, at times, kept bound for the safety of others and myself. When this is necessary, I hate it, I rail against it...but that is why it is necessary. I would rip out anyone's throat without hesitation, rampage until I have tired my muscles so well that I can't even move.

Yes, I seem lucid now, calm and collected. That is largely Arwyn's doing, and the work of skilled healers. Being able to hunt allows me to channel this ferocity into something productive. Ripping apart a goose or deer is practically therapy for me.

I will defend Arwyn and our clutches with my life, no matter how battered I become. That is what makes me such an excellent hunter, and such a vigilent watchdragon.

I have been told that I washed into the Everbloom Gardens from the Scarred Wasteland, that the watery journey was what caused me to be so damaged. I don't remember this, but I don't think it's completely true.

What I do remember is being lost on the edge of the Contagion. Wandering through forests. The forest did not tolerate frailty of body or mind. Show your weakness, and it would consume you without hesitation.

But I don't talk about that much. The memories alone are enough to make me want to stick my claw in something's throat and pull down until their guts are on the ground.

When I start to feel like this, I think about Arwyn. She's the only thing that keeps me calm.

• Did you know Arwyn hates sweets? Even candied meats make her teeth ache. Yet she always makes them for me, because I love them.
• She collects antlers now. It's not as big as my bone collection, but it's getting there. They're not hard to find when you patrol the forest every day.
• She is much bigger than me, both in height and wingspan. Sometimes, she takes advantage of this to subdue me.
• When she has the time, she enjoys learning of her hatchling's travels, hoping that they are happy in their current homes. She wishes she got more letters from them.
