Dragon Log

She is bright, and cheery, like the springtime, and has never quite learned what the word "anger" means. In fact, she can usually cheer her "twin" up when he is in one of his moods. A lover of bright, happy colors, she still understands all too well that all things are fleeting... and part of the reason she always appears so bright is because her brother can be so broody and dark. A true dragon of "between-times"...and a true daughter of the gentle Duskcloud and the wacky Beeblebrox.

1-7-15: She and her brother debated their names for a long time. Much closer than most nestmates, they wanted names that linked, yet reflected their own unique personalities. After a long, somewhat odd discussion with their mother (who told them to follow their heart in all things, including their names), and their father (who thought that the wackier the name, the better), they made their decision:

Meet Equinox, sister of Solstice!

1-20-15: Equinox is ecstatic that her friend, the Bamboo Phytocat has Awakened! He seems pretty happy, too, though its hard to tell. He could just be chasing his "tail" to let off some steam....

4-17-15: As they grow older, the siblings' differences are becoming a bit more apparent. Equinox is the gentle "twin," while Solstice is much more fierce... nowhere is this clearer than in the familiars they bond with. When the Bamboo Phytocat wandered off for a while, Equinox found, and befriended, a mild-mannered, very formal Tuxedo Floracat. Meanwhile, Solstice found a much different companion.... Though they still bonded on the same day. Some things, it seems, will never change.

5-25-15: Equinox and Solstice journeyed together to the Greenskeeper Gathering.... and for the first time they truly encountered different experiences. It seems that the Labyrinth's magic had different plans for the "twins". Now Equinox had some very... unusual.... markings on her scales and wings--indicative of the start of spring. Solstice is not entirely happy at the change....

7-16-15: The Tuxedo Floracat has Awakened--and promptly expressed her annoyance at her chosen companion's odd wing patterns by swiping at them. Equinox decided to get some help from one of the mages of the Clan... and after several intensive hours of study, Shadowfire's Golden daughter managed to coax the odd Nature magic off of Equinox's body. Solstice is extremely relieved....

3-16-17: Equinox and Solstice continue to change as they grow older, but some things seem destined to remain the same: On the same day that Solstice returned home from an expedition with an odd insect, Equinox found herself the subject of interest for a very annoyed Orange Blotch Pansy. Perhaps the hummingbird and the flower are two halves of a whole? They certainly seem to like each other as much as they do their chosen dragons....

6-14-17: The Orange Blotch Pansy has Awakened! Equinox is thrilled for her friend, and has decided to give her a name in celebration. For some reason, Sunny does not seem too appreciative of the effort...

11-22-17: Out of nowhere, two of the Clan's "undecided" familiars have made up their minds...and once again, the choices between the twins appear to be a reflection on their personality. While Equinox has found a cheerful, contrary balloon to amuse herself, Solstice has attracted a much fiercer friend...

3-2-18: On the last day of the Shadow Festival, the Living Luminance has finally Awakened at last. Perhaps there is a lesson here somewhere...something about the end of Shadows and the beginning of light? Or maybe the balloon was just ready to mature. Either way, Equinox is extremely pleased for her newest companion. Now what to name it....

3-23-19: Changes in the Clan--and individual dragon's magic--continue to occur. Recently, Equinox and Solstice discovered that they are, in fact mages, with their magic bound to the seasons they have the most affinity to. It is not uncommon, now, to see one or the other of them--or both--surrounded by evidence of that affinity. Perhaps they should have a little chat with a certain two Faes...

8-27-19: Equinox and Solstice continue to grow in their magical ability, and as they do, their differences are becoming even more pronounced. Solstice is attracted to magical seasonal extremes, while Equinox is much more interested in the actual living aspects of seasonal magic. Nowhere was this more apparent than during the year’s Flameforger Festival, where the “twins” encountered an extremely odd Forge… ( ) Equinox is absolutely delighted with her new “Fire Seeds,” while Solstice is far more interested in the heat that caused them to light in the first place. Both, however, are a little unsure what to do with their new greaves ( ) and Solstice, for one, would dearly love to have a little chat with Anguis about the importance of looking where he is going… ( )

7-16-21: Things have been quiet for Equinox for a while, so it came as a bit of a shock today when her beloved companion the Living Luminance began to act agitated. The gentle Guardian stumbled on her friend bobbing up and down in place, muttering to itself. No amount of questioning could tease out of the odd being what was wrong, so in the end Equinox simply settled nearby with her faithful Bamboo Phytocat, and kept watch. After several hours of this strange behavior, the Living Luminance suddenly began to lrow a bright, cheerful green...and announced that it's name, from now on, would be "Jade Glider." Equinox is quite happy to comply with the request, but she can't help but feel that there is something more going on here. Unfortunately, all attempts to find out why the balloon was so agitated earlier, and so determined to find a name for itself, have proved fruitless. All Jade Glider will say is that it was "necessary." This statement has not reassured Equinox in the least...
