I. Vallum is the firstborn of the powerful Banescale pair of the Laospí Clan; the frustrations and slights his parents have perceived have been his inheritance. With this difficult burden, he still strove to make himself useful within the clan, eventually landing as the botanist's apprentice despite his parents' disapproval.

II. While he can seem too boldly spoken at times, Vallum's brashness comes from a place of savage earnestness rather than blatant powermongering. He has a razor-sharp skepticism which rubs people the wrong way, and he doesn't care. He's interested in finding out what he wants and dispelling any misconceptions he may have about anything. Anything.
