Dragon Log
A somewhat mischievous hatchling, he grew into a much more responsible adult, although he does still like a good joke now and then. He enjoys being mysterious and impossible to figure out most of all, however--much to his Clan's frustration. Perhaps he and Beeblebrox could get along.... or perhaps not. There is a difference between mysterious and improbable, after all.
12-19-14: Not to be outdone by his sister, he chose his name only a few days after her... Or at least, he tried. He wanted to be "Riddle," but somehow that name just didn't sound right... and "Rica"'s improvement fit perfectly. Ah well, maybe one of his children will be a Riddle instead.... if he ever finds a mate, that is....
1-21-15: No mates yet in the offing, but his Coral Carpenter, Buzz, has Awakened! Perhaps now he will vocalize something other that the persistent noise that earned him his name....
9-8-15: Puzzle has shocked the entire Clan by taking the resident "Dark Mage" as his mate.... is he revealing his true side? Or is there something else going on? Perhaps he hopes to reform her? The Clan can only wait, and watch the 3 Eggs in the Hatching Grounds with trepidation--and hope....
12-25-15: Nebula has moved on... and Puzzle seems curiously unaffected by her abandonment. The Clan still does not know why he chose her in the first place--or what broke them up. But considering her new interest, they are almost wishing she had stayed with him....
1-6-15: The mischievous Puzzle has found himself a new "toy"-- and a new companion. His family would be amused, if not for the fact that this odd mirror was a parting gift from Nebula... and is calling itself a Deadly Reflection....
4-8-16: For good or ill, the mirror has Awakened. Puzzle seems more than a little fascinated with his Deadly Reflection--and the Clan is getting increasingly worried. But then again, the odd mirror hasn't really done anything worthy of fear, and with Puzzle you never know if you are seeing reality or something else. Perhaps he is simply faking the obsession? One can only hope.....
10-10-16: Puzzle's fascination with his "new" familiar has just been rather rudely interrupted: his middle daughter has decided to leave for a new home with the Clan of PuffinPrincess, in Wind Flight. Truly, it is no surprise to anyone that the extremely secretive Mirror finally decided that she did not belong, but Puzzle is a little unhappy that he did not get a chance to say a proper goodbye... perhaps now he will stop gazing into that mirror quite so much....
11-20-16: To Puzzle's great distress, his continued fascination with the Deadly Reflection lead to another, equally unpleasant shock. His youngest daughter has also left home without saying goodbye... and she has since become Exalted to the ranks of the Tidelord! Puzzle understands that this is an honor, of course, but he wishes that it was an honor she allowed someone else to have--or at least that she had waited until she was a little older before making that journey....
11-21-16: It seems that the double blow of losing two of his daughters to other Clans without getting to say goodbye has done what no amount of pleading by his sister Rica—or any other member of the Clan--could accomplish. Puzzle has finally let go of the Deadly Reflection... and is now playing with a Chalcedony Snipper! Oh dear... hopefully those claws will stay small....
2-19-17: Puzzle was wandering in the Trickmurk Forest during the Circus, and something odd happened.... at least the Magie de Cirque look looks somewhat good on him, unlike the effects on some.... perhaps he can get one of the Pearlcatchers or Skydancerrs to help him get rid of it once the Festival is over?
3-9-17: Puzzle still has his odd look on his wings... and his Chalcedony Snapper's claws have NOT stayed small. In fact, they have gotten bigger! This is not surprising, however, since the lobster had been steadily maturing since he and Puzzle met. Now he has Awakened, and while Puzzle celebrates with his friend, the Clan can only hope that this means the Snipper's claws will stop growing....
12-13-17: Puzzle seems determined to live up to his name--or at least his familiar friends are. In an astonishing move, the Clan's Clearwater Oracle has decided that Puzzle is the perfect dragon to bond with--and this despite the fact that there are quite a few dragons fond of water available for bonding...and Puzzle tends to avoid water whenever he can. Perhaps the Oracle is attracted not by Puzzle, but by the Chalcedony Snipper, which comes from the same Crystal Pool as this particular maren? Whatever the reason, the merman seems perfectly content with his choice, and Puzzle is just having to make the best of having acquired a friend that loves an element he does not....At least it is unlikely that Nebula will be able to snare the gentle Mirror again, now that he has a Seer watching his back....
3-19-18: The Clearwater Oracle has Awakened at long last. Puzzle is happy for his friend, though he is still not entirely sure why the odd Seer wanted him as a companion at all. They seem to be getting on well enough now, however, and perhaps now that the maren has Awakened he will stop trying to use his tail to splash the water-avoiding Mirror every chance he gets...
4-24-18: After a long hiatus, Puzzle's mischievous streak has struck again! This time, he convinced the Skydancer Mellon to go with him for a "fun time" at the "nice, sedate" Wavcrest Saturnalia...and then dragged the poor seasick inclined dragon onto a submarine! Mellon is not amused in the least by the "joke," and is currently searching the whole sub for the playful Mirror. Oh dear....
4-26-18: Poor Puzzle has learned the hard way that some pranks--such as tricking a seasick dragon onto a submarine--have their consequences. The mischievous Mirror is currently having his head tended to by an extremely annoyed Spinel, while Duskshadow lectures him about the proper way to play a joke. It's almost as if they're more mad that Puzzle pulled a seasick Mellon onto that submarine than they are about the whack on the head that the irate Skydancer gave him in return--and that Tin hurt! Maybe he should consider a different kind of trick next time. Hmmm....Perhaps Mischief will have some ideas....
