Dragon Log

Much more responsible than her brother, she still knows how to make mischief when she wants to. Like all the Mirrors of the Clan, she is fascinated by the mysterious...though less inclined to be so herself. In fact, her interests fall more within the parameters of the Pearlcatchers and Skydancers of the Clan, as she is absolutely fascinated with the more mysterious and hidden aspects of magic itself....

12-16-14: After some thought, she has come up with her name, as a reflection of her Clan, her parentage, and her love of all things hidden. Meet Esoterica! (Her brother calls her "Rica," much to her horror.)....

1-21-15: Esoterica's Abyss Striker familiar has Awakened! Maybe now he will tell her about some of the things he found in the depths....

11-7-15: Older, and much more experienced--especially in handling certain dragons of the Clan--Esoterica is beginning to be trusted with the supposedly impossible tasks that Duskshadow can't do herself--such as finding incorrigible Beeblebrox and his current “escort,” Twilight, and herding them back to the Clan after a Festival has ended… ( )

…And so Beeb was rescued from several angry females, and a relived Twilight was able to stop babysitting--which she clearly was not good at--and return to her favorite habit of battling monsters in the Coli--which she excels at--and Esoterica was once again praised for her efforts keeping the Clan together...

3-9-16: After almost a full year, Esoterica has finally found a new companion to add to her "family": Meet her Petalwing Peryton! The young creature somehow got separated from the rest of her herd, and Rica heard her crying. Now the young one is suddenly not at all interested in going home....

6-10-16: Almost three months to the day of her discovery crying near an ice floe, the Petalwing Peryton, now named Grace, is firmly settled in her new home, and does not look like she ever intends to leave. Today is a momentous day for her, as she has Awakened, and is now considered a full adult in the eyes of the other familiars. She is reacting to this new experience with her usual poise as she accepts the accolades of Rica and others. Only time will tell if the Awakening will change her in any noticeable ways....

3-12-19: While trying to play with her Petalwing Peryton. Grace, Esoterica got a bit of a shock: The aloof Animated Statue suddenly moved in front of her and locked eyes with her...now it has initiated a familiar bond! Rica is not sure how she feels about this....

6-8-19: The Animated Statue has Awakened at last. Perhaps now it will be a bit more tolerant of other beings, and let Rica's other companions come back again....

1-25-21: Esoterica surprised the whole Clan this year, when she announced her intent to compete in the Sornieth Winter Games, as a Ski Jumper. Many of the dragons are not certain how this is going to go, but Rica is determined to have something for her Trophy Shelf at last, even if she has to fight a Blizzard to get it… ( , )

…And now she has found something else of interest, as well: It seems that the organizers of the Winter Games are hosting a costume contest! ( ) Oh, this is going to be so much fun….

1-26-21: Rica did not win either the Ski Jump or the Costume Contest, but she had a lot of fun trying, and now she has not one, but two things for her Trophy Shelf! True, they are both only Participation Badges, but they look so nice and shiny on her shelf. Now all she has to do is help Puzzle get something for his shelf…
