Biography
Idun
Goddess of youth | Mistress of Blight
Goddess of youth | Mistress of Blight
Idun spent most of her childhood with Lilith. Every day spent preparing her for the trials, learning history, with one meal every day. Before her journey back to the wastelands Idun fasted, choosing to be in a weaker state than her peers. Her arrival was unnoticed, another dragon among hundreds of others.
What stuck her most was the smell that surrounded her. The sweet stink of rot that filled her nose and brought back her childhood memories. Her necromacer mothers doting over her, wrestling with her brothers in the sand by their nest. The unexpected arrival of a council member, Lilith herself.
Lilith now stood in ceremonial robes behind the High Councilors and the trial captains. Her face stoic but eyes filled with pride, like her own daughter was going to complete her trials.
I was just a project to her Idun thought with a sudden sick feeling settling in her belly. She stole me from my parents, I was just a project.
"Trial goers." One of the councilors said. "today you brave the Wrymwound, your camps are set up already. Those of you who were trained by a necromacer and prepared for these trials your mentor will see you to your camp, those who weren't will follow a trial guardian. Give them your name and they will lead you to where you will undergo the infection for the next 24 days."
Lilith walked beside her all the way to her camp. A few small trinkets from her room in Yggdrasil lined the tent.
"I hired a few guardians to keep a closer eye on you than the rest. You have vials that lessen fever, salves for if your bones start to ache, incense to help deepen your meditation. Fresh water from the branches of my tree, apples to snack on, jerky, a dagger in case the guardians don't do their job as well as I hope."
"Thank you master Lilith." Idun bowed her head, "It is very kind of you."
"Oh come now, Idun. We are past these formalities." Lilith opened her arms for a hug, which Idun accepted. "My children leave me after their trials, but you my girl, I know you'll return. You'll come home as something incredible."
"What if I fail? What if Verdandi was wrong? What if Skuld was wrong?"
"Easy, dear one. My Faes are never wrong, focus on survival. Mother guide you, Idun."

Lore: the youngest of her clutch Idun found solace in the company of her older brothers. But fate would have other plans for her. Not long after she hatched an Imperial female arrived and spoke to Idun's parents, pleased with what this stranger said they sent the youngest with her, pulling her from the protective hugs of her brothers. Idun cried for her mothers, begged them to let her stay just a little longer. But they couldn't hear their daughters cries. Half way through the long journey away from her clutch mates the stranger stopped and sat the hatchling down.
"I would like to apologize to you." She said, placing one hand on Idun's cheek. "It must be heartbreaking to be away from your mothers, and your brothers."
Idun nodded, not yet willing to speak to this large intruder.
"I am Lilith. I'm part of the necromantic council, searching for young dragons, like you."
"Like me? How?"
Lilith smiled and put the young wildclaw on her back, "You'll see how special you are in time, rest now, when we get to my home you can eat and begin training"
