Dragon Log

The third born hatchling and 2nd son of Shadowfire and her White Skydancer Consort, he is nothing like his siblings. While they focus on powerful Arcane magic linked into whichever classical element they feel the most affinity for, this Pearlcatcher is far more attracted to the hidden, passive, magics. His--very slight--affinity to Fire shows itself most often in his fascination with spirits and ghosts…which was, perhaps, fostered by his mother’s bonding with a Smoke Gyre around the time he was born.

1-15-15: In an attempt to interest his son in the here and now, Shadowfire’s Skydancer Consort enticed a Wintermane Spearman to befriend this unusual Pearlcatcher. The young hatchling accepted his father’s gift….but though he had a great deal of fun with his new friend, the Centaur was not able to dissuade “Ghost” from his fascination with the ethereal world. More recently, he has settled in as a Protector of the young one, setting himself the increasingly difficult task of shielding the Pearlcatcher from the more dangerous spirits and manifestations….

1-28-15: The Wintermane Centaur has Awakened! Perhaps now he will have more luck protecting his young charge….

2-14-15: During a supervised trip deeper into the Clan’s cave system, the Pearlcatcher discovered a Steam Gyre who had somehow gotten lost, and was slightly ill, being so far away from the Great Furnace. “Ghost”’s slight affinity to fire enabled him to give the Gyre a much smaller blaze to manifest over, and the grateful Spirit has begun to hang around the Pearlcatcher almost constantly—a fact that has not gone unnoticed by his family and the somewhat over-protective Wintermane Centaur. Still, the Gyre does not seem too harmful…..

5-15-15: The Steam Gyre has Awakened! His Pearlcatcher companion is thrilled for him, and he himself seems much stronger and happier than ever before. Perhaps this will help to keep both young beings in the physical plane, and away from the more harmful spirits and ghosts? The Pearlcatcher's parents can only hope....

9-26-15: During the Starfall Celebration this year, a number of the Clan's male Pearlcatchers got caught in a magical storm. The result for most was an interesting Crystalpine Aura Accent change in their appearance. This Pearlcatcher, however, got caught only by the edge of the storm, and ended up with a Starfall Spell Accent instead....

5-10-16: Perhaps being caught in that storm wasn't the best thing after all--or perhaps it was far better than most knew. Since that time several interesting creatures have started sniffing around this Pearlcatcher, and now one seems to have moved in. For some reason, despite his gentle mannerisms and calm temper, some of the dragons are a bit put off by the Bogus Manamonger. “Ghost” can't for the life of him understand why.....

8-13-16: The Bogus Manamonger has Awakened! It does not seem to have changed his temperament that much--in fact it does not seem to have made much of an impact on him at all--but it is still a milestone in his life. The Pearlcatcher is quite pleased for his friend....

10-3-18: The latest in an increasingly long list of dragons to acquire a "halo," this Pearlcatcher has developed two at once. The odd combination of the Conflagrant and Spellwrought Halos have both intrigued and worried his parents, as no one is entirely certain what it means about his magic--or his temperament....

5-26-20: After several years of staying in the lair, doing more and more complex experiments with his magic--and thoroughly enjoying the chaos that is the Clan’s daily life--“Ghost” has decided to venture out and go exploring. Despite what his parents may think, this journey is not a sudden whim. Various members of the Clan have recently been acquiring some rather pretty boats for their Trophy Shelves, as well as some very interesting friends, and this Pearlcatcher is intrigued at the thought of possibly finding a Ghost Ship of his own--and maybe a Ghost Maren as well…. ( )

5-27-20: “Ghost” is overwhelmed. He tried for a Ghost Ship, and got something even better! Who would have thought that his slight--very slight--affinity to Fire Magic would have that much effect on his search for the perfect ship in a bottle? Now his new Ghost Maren friend has a truly unique ship to "haunt”! Oh, and the Harbour Tug and Cruise Ship are nice too…
