Fire does not mix well with water, Zephyra knows this better than any other dragon. This is why all the young hatchlings skitter away from her in distaste when they see her orange eyes. This is why the older dragons murmur in hushed tones. This is why she is never asked to babysit other dragon's children, despite being one of the gentlest dragons in the clan.

She was here when the clan was founded...here when the clan founders were exiled...and here when the new leaders were killed. She saw it all and was powerless to step in. Nobody allowed her to prove her worth. Nobody trusted her and nobody ever gave her a chance. She's accepted that, resigned to being a useless dragon in the shadows. Donning a hood she has never taken off since, Zephyra simply stays quiet and tends to the dying embers of this clan.

As unliked as she might be here, she no longer cares. With her trusty familiar by her side, she can protect herself from any dragon foolish enough to try causing her harm. And more recently, she's found romance. Zephyra feels she might finally have found someone to be her driving force.

How the tide turns. Zephyra has now removed her hood and rejoices. The clan founders have returned, and she is no longer a useless dragon. They have silenced any protests against her and she is once more a noble dragon.
