Kahedin

An unfortunate lineage that is both touched by Shade and bound to protect others from it. These dragons are ill-suited for crowded clans and tend to wander the desolate landscapes — forests, mires, vast stretches of featureless deserts, and frigid mountains. Perhaps it is the Shade in their blood that helps them sense darkness in the world and endeavor to change it, even if the darkness itself cannot be dispelled or destroyed.

Their temperaments range from individual to individual, but it is important to note that Forest Wights do not have any imperative to hunt or destroy Shade, not like Gaolers are wont to do. They form strong bonds with other dragons but tend to keep small social circles. Their devotion to protecting others is not without worth, despite their shade-affliction, and they often settle into communities as sentries or guards.

Magic is innate for most dragonkind, but it is not so with forest wights. They can inherit elemental abilities from a parent that isn’t a wight, or by being hatched in an area imbued with particularly powerful magic, but a strong presence of Shade and elemental magic cannot coexist in the same being. If such a thing occurs, the Shade would consume everything and leave nothing but a husk.

As time marches on, the descendants of Duvain and Idisi wander Sornieth and bring with them both misfortune and love.
