Biography

Allow me to tell you about this secretive dragon.

It was during the Starfall Celebration that our dear Ridgeback was born to a lucky Ridgeback father and a Pearlcatcher mother. Because of this, she developed a fascination for magical and scientific subjects; her snout always being pointed upwards at the stars at night in order to study them. It did not last after she was conditioned to Plague Flight's ways and mannerisms, however.

When matured, Shezmu set off to wander The Scarred Wasteland in order to discover the more violent, repulsive side of all dragons alike, be they Fae, Skydancer or even an Imperial. Yet as time went on, she found herself longing to investigate The Starfall Isles and the secrets that laid within but was promptly discouraged when many whom she talked to about the matter voiced their disagreements more so than their agreements.

So in order to save herself from being trapped within the comfortable yet restricted, fleshy walls of her clan's lair, she flew one night out on the strongest current towards Arcane Flight's territory when a sudden gust to her flank knocked her out of the air and into Wind Flight's land. There, she was discovered by Clan Nomadbound- the clan she lives in today- and nursed back to health just in time for them to migrate to Dragonhome.

Once there, she vowed to settle down and give up on taking a trip to The Starfall Isles due to the distance between them and her new clan's lair in Dragonhome. Fate seemed to be in her favor for once for shortly after, a Ridgeback named Drifter had come back to Clan Nomadbound from one of his more extensive trips to each and every territory known to dragonkind. Being Arcane-born himself, he quickly caught knowledge of Shezmu and her fascination with his birth flight; a conversation sparking between two dragons being what would eventually lead them to being the best of comrades.

Yet it was only during the Riot of Rot that Shezmu put all of her trust into Drifter after he commented on her unease around Plague Flight by telling him about her hatchling days. A story she never told anyone except for him, she described to him how she couldn't feel at home within a flight that lived to survive instead of living to learn, as ironic as it sounded. He, however, understood her fully and assured her that her delicate tale of the past would be kept safe within him and only him. It didn't take long for the two to fall in love afterwards, needless to say.

Now they wait for their first batch of four to hatch, both taking turns to care for their nest from the dangers that could take them within moments notice. As they are one out of two to have the luck to bear four eggs on their first try however, the clan looks on them expected to become the new matriarch and patriarch. Even if the other dragons- including the other pair who bore four eggs, show great support towards the two except for Sariel, the clan's God Communicator. Despite the Fae's stubbornness in regards to preventing Shezmu and Drifter from taking responsibility of Clan Nomadbound, they remain unaffected in stature and will most likely take over once Thesie and Wynterr, the current leaders, step down.

[UPDATE: Nov. 2, 2013]

Having birthed her four hatchlings, she had now been made matriarch of Clan Nomadbound; Drifter becoming the patriarch and loving father towards the four new additions to the clan, especially towards Sesha, the strongest of the clutch. Bestowed with the blessings of leadership, Shezmu ruled over her clan diplomatically yet kindly until one night, she noticed an odd disturbance outside of her clan's lair. Presuming it to be some kind of dragon in need of help, she walked out to find an Imperial waiting for her, a skull from its very own kind in its grasp.

Unnerved, the Ridgeback asked if she was alright and if she needed a place to stay for the night to which the Imperial said a very excited yes. She then addressed herself as Avila before collapsing into Shezmu who, promptly yet quietly, helped her into her own little lair and tended to her all throughout the night. It was only then did Shezmu realize that the Imperial was nearing the edge of death.

Unknown to her was the very fact that Avila was already dead. A ghost made physical to those who glimpsed at her skull, the Imperial had died a frozen death while flying around The Southern Icefield's shores only to be caught by a sudden snowstorm and blown into the ocean. She had been deceased for many a year but it was only when her body became a mere skeleton down in the bottom of the freezing ocean that she could become material through the arcane that surrounded all that was. This, however, could only be accomplished as long as she had contact with her skull and as such, she never went anywhere without it.

Yet when Shezmu came into contact with it by taking it out of Avila's hands and examining it,
the Imperial became ghostly within moments. This sudden reaction to the lack of contact with her item made the Ridgeback quickly place it in her claws again, finally realizing that she had brought a specter into her clan. This realization made her rather calm, surprisingly enough. After all, it could allow her some insight into the arcane and what made it possible for Avila's spirit to manifest.

Ever since that day, Avila was allowed to 'live' within Clan Nomadbound. Unfortunately, she had to be in hiding until Shezmu found the proper way to introduce her into the clan, lest somebody glimpse at her skull and see her ghostly eyes and appearance. Shezmu, on the other hand, did not mind Avila's presence in her lair and constantly engaged her in chats on various grim subjects in an attempt to help the Imperial through her afterlife.

And even so, the Tale of Shezmu continues on.

Additional Information
Status: Matriarch
Personality: Calm and collected in most situations, Shezmu appreciates the little company she gets due to her very silent- not to mention solemn- air about her. She has a great disdain towards those who attempt to disrespect her just because of her Plague roots or her passion for runes, studying the stars and/or the magic within the world.
Odd Fact: She somehow has great difficulty in using Breath (and magic period) to fuel her attacks/defenses. Because of this, she only fights when need be through physical attacks.
