Risk had always known that, as a warrior of Plaguebringer, he would most probably die in a battle, hopefully with his best friend, Peril. What he'd never expected, however, is that he would be poisoned, along with Peril, after consuming rations that were laced with poison that were placed by a jealous lower ranking warrior. He was helpless, as he could do nothing since it was a fast acting poison. He thought that he would die in the glory of a battle, fighting for Plaguebringer. Reaching for the talons of the already dead Peril, he looked at him once more, before closing his eyes.

Risk wakes up, surprised to see himself still somehow alive. Yet, something feels different. As he looks around, he noticed himself to be a lot bigger than before. He looked at himself, and in horror, noticed the head of Peril attached to him, looking at him, and himself looking like a mix of him and Peril. He is an emperor now, he noticed, and they panicked.

Calm down. A voice said in his mind. It was different from Peril’s. A firm, calm voice.

Risk and Peril calmed down. Knowing that they will not be safe, as they would be a target of Plaguebringer’s forces now that they are an emperor, they decided to name themselves Beast and disguise themselves as an imperial, with Peril coiling around his neck and being covered, and joined a clan.

Beast became a warrior of the clan and at night, tries to find out who the mysterious voice is and how they are revived. They are looked with suspicion by several members of the clan, but is looked with interest by several strange dragons with three pairs of eyes.
