Nightingale

Fate moves like a river, you may steer but I have the map.

Nightingale started life as a young Snapper, born in the lands of Shadow. Her parents were content with life in their clan but Nightingale was restless. Her dreams filled with images of cold wastes and a purple Mirror. She went to a Seer to help make sense of it all. The old dragon chuckled and said that she has a journey to embark on to the Snowsquall.

To leave behind everything for the cold and unforgiving Tundra? She didn't want to but the dreams persisted, sometimes she'd wake up chilled. It wasn't till she awoke covered in snow that she finally listened. Gathering up some items and bidding her family good bye she traveled towards the coast. Her hulking size and nasty bite kept her safe from bandits, making her journey to the coast rather quick. She paid a ferryman to get her over to the encrusted icy land. It took two days to get there, one was mostly snowy and cold.

Yet when she touched down and stood upon the cold ground a shiver ran through her, not from the cold oh no, she felt at peace. The restlessness that had plagued her vanished. But the journey wasn't over she had to find that Mirror. Thankfully due to the necessity for clan's to help each other it wasn't too difficult to find the Mirror's name, Jaden. She and her clan lived in the Eternal Blizzard, the nastiest storm on the Southern Icefield.

It took days to navigate the Blizzard, any rest meant getting buried. She took shelter besides a rock to catch her breath while trying to get her bearings. Not half an hour after she stopped did a group of three dragons appear, if by magic, from the snow. Each ladened with the day's catch. They clearly couldn't smell her so she could either let them pass and follow them or go up to them and hope for the best. Steeling her nerves she approached them, watching the middle dragon place her catch down. The graceful blue Dancer eyed her, "Are you lost?"

"I am looking for a dragon named Jaden, I have had many dreams of her and her clan out here in the Blizzard. Please take me to her." She watches them looks at each other but agree, "Very well, follow us."

She followed through the snow and ice till trees filled her vision. Where she thought was more trees was a pathway, a natural defense and hidden trail to the clan. She marvelled at the Nature dragons' craftsmanship that went into getting it all together. She soon saw light ahead, odd since the sun was blocked by clouds when they came to the trees. Leaving the forest she stared in awe at the clan nestled around the base of a great mountain, the Blizzard had hidden that as well! As she took in the beauty a stocky dragon approaches the group, it's none other than Jaden herself. The young dragoness speaks to Runewing, the blue Skydancer before speaking to Nightingale. "So you came all this way to see me. May I ask why?"

"I'm not sure, I've had many dreams about you. I finally listened to them." Nightingale was worried that after all this she'd be sent away. She was startled by tiny hatchlings running into her legs. She had never seen this breed before but they are clearly of the Shadowbinder's design. "What are these little ones?"

Jaden explains that a new breed emerged from the Shadow territory, Nocturnes, and these are from two eggs they recovered. Draco and Sydonia are their names. Nightingale examined them with curiosity. She loved the breed's look, Mother had done so well with them. She adored the bat like appearance and for a while just watched the two play and tussle. When she turned back towards the dragoness' they had a bemused expression at her fondness towards the hatchlings. "I have traveled very far and wish to join your clan, when I arrived here I felt a wave of peace size reassurance come over me. Please allow me to stay."

Jaden looked to Runewing, calling over an elder Wildclaw she asked her to set Nightingale up with a warm meal and bed while they discussed what to do. The Wildclaw nodded and guided Nightingale to a fire pit where two dragons were making food over the fire. It was different than Shadowland food, but was delicious nonetheless. They chatted while she waited for the verdict. The dragoness Nightingale spoke to was Isendra. The poor dragon was so distraught, but hid it, yet Nightingale could see it in her eyes. As she dwelled on what could be causing her such pain she mind was struck with a vision. A dark furred male, a young female wailing at night and then darkness. Then warm crept in, light as she could see a fuzzy figure...a young Coatl, his colors so bright.

She shakes her head in confusion but could vaguely guess that what she just saw was for Isendra. She reaches out and gently lays her paw on the older dragon's. "You will find great happiness."

Isendra's head snapped towards her in shock just Jaden and Runewing approach with a great male Guardian.

NAME

D0XSHAN.png

When Nightingale was a hatchling she tried to fly to the stars. She passed out on the way, whether from lack of air or exhaustion is unknown. She woke up in the healers den, both wings wrapped in bandages. They had to stay covered for months to heal. When she finally got them off she was delighted to find that she had reached the stars, and they had imprinted themselves on her wings.

Nightingale is extremely sensitive to sounds. She hears all, and although sometimes it bothers her on a daily basis, she has grown used to it. During the day, she tucks herself away in the quietest corners, hoping not to get in anybody's way. But at night, when the stars are out, she swears she can hear them twinkle. The chime of the bright lights of the sky are what keeps Nightingale awake, and sometimes she would sit there and stare at the world above them for hours and hours until the sun's head peaks up from the mountains.
