While they've both been through some similar hardships, Chaugmar and Parthia are polar opposites. While Chaugmar has resigned himself to delegating tasks to others, Parthia prefers to take action and do things herself rather than appoint someone else to do it for her. Also, in contrast to Chaugmar, Parthia is also quite friendly and approachable to her people, but stern and standoffish towards outsiders. Her empire comes first, and as such she has no qualms with defeating those who would endanger it. As Empress of Valentia, she is quite strong-willed and has a desire to always do what's best for the clan. The dragons in Valentia look up to her, and admire Parthia's burning passion and desire to protect those she cares about. Parthia wasn't always the Empress of Valentia, though. When she hatched, Parthia found herself alone in the Scarred Wasteland. She grew up in isolation and learned how to fend for herself out of necessity. As she grew older, Parthia began to travel from place to place around Sorineth. Being among the first of her kind, though, as well as not speaking common draconic, made it difficult for Parthia to fit in amidst others. Many clans Parthia came across turner her away, while others saw her as a threat and an abomination and took to arms to either chase her away from their territory or to end her life. She once stumbled upon a clan where she met Lethe, whose life was also in danger. The two escaped together, and Lethe decided to stick with Parthia, feeling indebted to her, and also having nowhere else to go. Eventually, Parthia came to a clan where she was accepted due to her capabilities in battle. Lethe, of course, was with her. In this clan, Parthia was taught to speak, which allowed her to become even closer to Lethe and the others in the clan. When the patriarch passed away, however, the rest of the clan disbanded, leaving Parthia without a place in the world once more. There were two dragons from this clan that stayed with Parthia and Lethe, though: Muffet and Hilda. With her friends behind her, Parthia, Lethe, Muffet, and Hilda began working as mercenaries to make ends meet. The group entered Valentia's territory, and were met not with anger or hatred, but with open arms and kindness. Quintavius offered the group a place to stay, and gave them mercenary work to make some money as well. Parthia and the others quickly settled into their new life in Valentia. Parthia remained suspicious of the kindness, as she had grown so accustomed to being turned away and treated like a monster. She asked Quin one day why he allowed her and her friends to stay. Quin told her that it was because he sensed a "kindness and a strong sense of duty in her." He also explained that had she been met by Chaugmar or the members of the sentry unit instead of himself, she and her friends would most likely have been turned away at best and at worst, killed. Before this, Parthia knew nothing of Chaugmar. She had never seen him nor heard his name. Quin explained the circumstances that Chaugmar was Valentian emperor, and that he hadn't told Chaugmar about Parthia and her companions yet. Parthia said that she appreciated everything Quin had done for her thus far, but she wished to meet Chaugmar and show him that she belonged here. Despite everyone telling her it was a death wish, she did just that. Parthia challenged Chaugmar to a fight, stating that if she could best him in battle then she would earn her place in Valentia. Chaugmar reluctantly agreed. Parthia didn't win the first time, but she kept finding Chaugmar and coming back to prove herself to him. Somewhere between the fifth and the twelfth time, Chaugmar began to realize he was developing feelings towards her. It took until the twenty-first time, but Parthia finally did best Chaugmar in battle, and she confessed that she believed she had fallen in love with him right after. Chaugmar told her he felt the same, and the two have been the figureheads of Valentia ever since. G O A L S Parthia wishes more than anything to see her clan prosper. She has sworn up and down to do everything in her power to not rest for a second if it means it will benefit her people. She desperately wants to manage everything for everyone, but is starting to realize being headstrong and doing everything alone isn't working out. She wants to rely on her friends and those close to her more going forward, although it will take some adjusting for the strong-willed warrior empress. |
