Uh-oh, looks like this groggy nocturne
wandered a little too far from his lair
(84565, Amethystkitten), and now he's off to see the
world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, he'd really
appreciate it if you could just return him home
instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World'

Straus yawned as he floated to the ground on a downward wind, the calming colors of bamboo and rustling grass making him arch his toothy mouth in a lazy smile. As he landed on the soft ground, he promptly fell asleep. a few hours later, Straus could feel the cool shadow from a creature above him.

The hovering skydancer, Syca, introduced herself before unceremoniously dangling him from her claws to check for wounds and signs of illness.

The nocturne was in a bad mood for the rest of the day, despite her apologies and her buoyant personality.

No one disturb's Straus' sleep.

Syca introduced him to her clan, and he was welcomed to stay for as long as he wanted. Exhausted, Straus accepted their offer and immediately found nook which he could sleep in. Much to his delight, he found an abandoned soft, brown blanket hidden in the corner. Nestling deeply with in, he swore to never lose it.

He left the next day as he found that waking peacefully in the morning was impossible, due to several gigantic dragons who had no concept of the words "quiet" or "soft". Straus took the blanket with him, finding it doubled nicely as a rather important looking cape.

Straus stayed a long, long while with the Scrollseeker clan of the Hewn City. He even helped with the Great Move from that shadowed city to the Southern Icefield, handling many priceless scrolls and treasures, and guarding the hatchlings. He was showered with acclaim for his help, and considered briefly biding with them forever. However, the wanderlust stirred deeply in his breast, and he was off again!

Stratus didn't travel for long, before he found the perfect sleeping spot. It was near the Sea of a Thousand Currents, so he could listen to the ocean. But, it was also beneath a giant sycamore tree, so he would have shade during the heat of the day. He was just about to sleep but then he noticed another dragon curled up in the sleeping spot. Horror of all horrors! ANOTHER DRAGON WAS IN HIS SLEEPING SPOT! This wouldn't do. This wouldn't do at all. This other dragon would have to move.

He snuck next to the large guardian, and crouching next to him, prodded him in the cheek until the sleeping giant stirred
"Um, excuse me. You're in my sleeping spot." He said. He needed to be careful. Wouldn't want to upset it now.
"What?" The guardian said, and blinked against the light.
"I said, you're in my sleeping spot. I'd like to sleep. You need to move." What so was difficult about that? Clearly, Stratus had no more claim to this spot than this guardian did. But he was clearly more tired! His sleep was more important!
The guardian stirred and looked at Stratus quizzically. He must like my cape, thought Stratus, and adjusted the cape so the guardian could admire it.
"Um...okay." The guardian said after what seem liked FOREVER and stood up. As soon as he did, Stratus darted into the spot and snuggled deeper into his cape. The ground was still warm from where the guardian had slept, and Stratus already felt drowsy.
"Thank you. Now leave me alone, whatever your name is. Get on. Shoo. Shoo." Stratus said, and closed his eyes. Finally--joy of all joys!-wonderful and delicious slumber.
But then the guardian kept on talking. "Now just you listen you dumbbell. I've had a long day, and I'll be damned if some young pup treats me like garbage. And I have a name. It's Hith"
Stratus rolled onto his back, and stared at Hith. "Now, no need to be Captain Cranky. Tell Stratus what ails you." Anything so he could finally GET SOME SLEEP.
Much to Stratus's surprise, Hith started crying, and pouring out a terribly sad story. Something about a lover, and a random dragon who liked her, and now they were all chasing each other around the world. It sounded like story that a mother would tell her hatchlings. Stratus loved it. He wanted to be a part of a story! Even if that DID mean cutting in on his sleep. "I'm no tracker,' Stratus said, once Hith had finished, "but I'd be happy to take you to the edge of the forest. If only so you'll stop disturbing my sleep."
Hith smiled at this, and Stratus found himself only a little invested in Hith finding his true love, Momoko. But then again, he didn't want to lead on that he ACTUALLY cared. He had a reputation, after all. Or did he? He was never sure.
"Alright. I accept your offer. Lead the way," Hith said.
"Of course, of course. But, I still need a nap. We'll leave after I sleep." Even if they were going to go gallivanting around the world on a quest, sleep--surprise of all surprises!--was still a top priority for Stratus. And besides, a good quester needs sleep. How else are they going to be rested to fight monsters? And friends. Friends are good.
The two curled up together and slept, and the world, with all of its problems grew less, if only for a little while. Before he drifted off to sleep, Stratus smiled. He had a friend. Such an odd feeling. But one he could get used to.

After a few hours of rest something noisy came into his reappearing consciousnes. Hith was curled around him hissing and slashing with his claws and some others were jumping around near the tree they were sleeping under. He couldn't sleep in this noise, he was angry and he didn't understand why Hith could not defend him with his giant body and large claws.
A few minutes later when Straus almost flew off to find a better place to sleep a group of dragons came along and helped them against the other group of dragons. Straus couldn't care less but Hith agreed to going with the 2nd group to learn fighting skills.
Well he could sleep peacefully on the territory of a clan and they had fighters to protect the silence and peace of the sleeping place, so he didn't deny their invitation either.

Hith was always in the arena with his new friends and even Straus could not sleep all day long, so he got bored after a few weeks. He started expeditions on the great territory of this new clan but he was not interested in the clan members. As long as he got food and could rest peacefully, he was OK with the circumstances.
One day a beautiful Wildclaw brought him dinner. He was in a bad mood because he haven't seen Hith in a whole week and for some reason everyone forgot to bring him lunch, but all his anger vanished when he saw that beautiful female approaching him.
He didn't have it easy with the girl: she was picky with mates and stubborn when it came to future plans, but finally the ice between them started to melt. Straus was never happier before (except for the periods in his life when he was in love with other beauties) and they decided to have a nest together.
Although Straus promised to stay with his new family, he couldn't help his adventure-seeking spirit - and the hatchlings were really noisy and didn't let him sleep so much anymore - so one night he grabbed his blanket, reminded Hith of his goal of finding Momoko, and together they vanished into the darkness.
