Genesis the Groundskeeper showers bring flowers Theme: Sound of the Wind |
━━ story ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
”Get out!” Genesis pounced forward, her claws showing shining green beyond the tough leather bracers she wore. Bracers that, incidentally, Kido made. The Centaur backed away carefully, a startled sorrow hammering in his chest. “Out? But, Genesis, I don’t━” “Don’t make me call the Chase. We both know what they’re good at.” “I do know.” He took a deep breath, backing away from the dragon in case she should make good on the threat communicated by her bared teeth. “I don’t mean to imply you’re being unreasonable.” “My daughter is dead, and thanks to beasts like you,” Genesis snarled. “It was a mistake to pretend friendly relations with the likes of you and your murderous brethren in the first place. Now, leave before my senses return to me.” Genesis turned away, and seeing her tail lash the air behind her gave Kido some hope. She didn’t want to hurt him. They were friends. “Didn’t I weep with you?” he asked, his voice withering. It didn’t matter how strong his arms were. Genesis didn’t answer. Kido loved Imperata (though he called her “Imp”). It would have been forward and insensitive to compare his loss to hers, though. Kido couldn’t imagine the depths of empty sorrow Genesis was feeling right now. Though… perhaps he could. A little bit. “Do not turn me out for the actions of our enemies. Please.” Genesis whipped back around. “Our?” she fairly screamed, slashing with one claw not nearly close enough to hurt him. “Get out! Get out!” Without a look back, Kido kicked away and fled. What had been home for years now? Not a word but get out? How long would this war ruin families and friendships? |

━━ history ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
|
Genesis has lived on the Zephyr Steppes all her life, meeting her mate, Moor, and all their friends there. Along with Moor, she is the groundskeeper for a large estate on the Steppes, one that has since fallen into disuse since the owners spend their time in Light Territory. Genesis and Moor keep the vast acreage to its natural beauty and diversity. When not inspecting the far-flung reaches of the estate for diseases and pests that might harm the land, she keeps a garden near the lean-to that she and her mate live in. Though she is not a cook herself (she leaves this to her mate and granddaughter) she is always pleased to have nutritious food nearby for a homemade meal. Unfortunately, many dragons are not as careful as Genesis and her family are with their environment. An invasive species can easily throw even the most carefully balanced and maintained ecosystem into chaos. One problem-species in Genesis’s neck of the woods is the Gladeveins Needletooth, and it nearly ate all other creatures in the area out of house and home. Lightning and Hydra offered their uncanny hunting and tracking abilities for only food (for Hydra—Lightning was more than satisfied with leftover Needletooth) and lodging. Thus began a partnership that might last for a long, long time. Genesis and Moor took pride in their cordial relations with the surrounding Beastclans. Their Maren neighbors in the sea would trade with them, their Harpy neighbors sometimes even visited. They’d even offer a place to stay to roaming Talonok flocks or Longneck tribes on their nomadic jaunts through Wind territory. This sentiment changed quickly. It wasn’t unusual for Moor and Genesis’s children to leave for days and weeks at a time, following in their parents’ footsteps and exploring the land. Still, Moor was used to finding their camps while out checking the extremities of their land. He came upon his daughter’s camp, and destruction like he’d never seen. He was too late to do anything for her. Genesis never quite recovered. She no longer trusts her neighbors and keeps her children at arms’ length for fear of losing one of them. She still gardens, and she tries to pretend she’s the same as she always was, but Moor knows perfectly well she’s lying. |
━━ familiar ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It has been years since Genesis last saw Kido, whom she considers her former friend. Kido met Genesis and her mate, Moor, while on a trading circuit from his home in Earth and an injury forced him to stay. After he recovered, he stayed on because he got along quite well with Genesis. In fact, Moor joked once he was a better friend to her than he was. Kido is level-headed, though understanding and unendingly patient unlike Moor. Now that Genesis has turned him out for her distrust of all Beastclans, Kido has returned to his old merchant ways. He returns every now and again to the Steppes to see how Genesis and Moor are. |
━━ family ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Moor is Genesis’s mate, and quite likely her best friend. Moor is the first to admit to Genesis’s intense emotional swings, but he weathers them better than most dragons would have any right to. Perhaps because he knows she means none of the things she says in anger. Like Genesis, Moor has had a long and complicated life. He doesn’t excuse the poor treatment she sometimes subjects others to, but he is more willing to forgive her unthinking outbursts. For the most part, of course, they enjoy their time together and work well as a team, Moor overseeing the fauna of their land while Genesis watches the flora. |
━━ notes ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
» As Genesis’s parents never took true names for themselves in the time she knew them, Genesis adopted Moor’s surname as her own: Trickvine. » » Genesis carries around a Greenroot Janustrap on her back, but only Moor and Genesis know that the plant is little more than decoration to her… |
aesthetic: Genesis enjoys simplicity, but that’s not to say she doesn’t recognize the beauty in flowers. Most of her things are decorated in dried blooms. |
likes: plants, soft rain, the company of dragons dislikes: Beastclans (Talonok especially), being alone, sand and clay _________________________________________________________ |
