Story of the Soulless

The Sleeping King
Sovri spends long periods of time in an unresponsive, trance-like state, waited on and cared for by numerous servants of the clan. He is treated as something like an idol, more than a true dragon.

While in this trance, he possesses strong regenerative abilities. This ability radiates out around him, through the entirety of his chamber. Thus injured dragons are often brought into his chamber to be healed. This healing comes with some mutagenic side effects, however. In fact, he always possesses this regeneration, it is just that when he is lucid, he can suppress the aura, making the effect far less noticeable in those around him.

When aroused from his trances he prefers to dismiss all but two servants, the Imperial twins Ehren and Entkoma.

Creed of the King
The King believes in these tenants and finds Plague the perfect embodiment of them. Life, Power, Freedom. In that order. Where there is life, there is hope, and so long as you survive you can come back from any loss. Power must be secured to protect one's life, as without it you can only ever be a pawn to those more powerful than yourself, and always subject to the cruel whims of fate. Freedom is desirable only once the first two are secure. To live and thrive as you see fit, and to be unbound to any master, with head unbowed to any force or god.

It is good then that Sovri's authority in the clan is absolute, as he would be unable to tolerate it any other way. His authority is given by Minstri, but the two are equals as leaders, and are never seen to conflict eachother. Though he doesn't inspire the same level of fanatical devotion and loyalty as his sister does. This doesn't bother him. He still commits himself to the Clan, though perhaps only because it is a thing which his sister loves. He is not otherwise concerned with anything besides himself and his sister. He is selfish to an extreme and obsessive towards Minstri.

He does not like to waste his hours of lucidity, and invests his time in a wide variety of pursuits, dictated by the climate and needs of his sister and the clan. He is endlessly inquisitive, and whenever possible he most enjoys study, research, experimentation to hone his magical abilities and amass power and prestige for himself and the clan. He considers no subject taboo and often works with Sahko in these pursuits.

A charismatic intellectual, he prefers work that plays to his strengths. Along with Makhae he often takes on a diplomatic role, encouraging positive, if dominating, relationships with nearby clans and creatures. He dislikes engaging in outright combat. He will avoid it wherever possible, even fleeing from opponents that are weaker than he is. He never fights fair if he can help it. When necessary, however, he is capable of quickly demolishing most threats. Due to his extreme regenerative abilities, it is difficult to inflict lasting harm upon him, leading many to wonder why his behavior is so cowardly.

During periods of strife, Sovri will sometimes take the battlefield, but more often he serves as the clan's healer and physician. His healing prowess is greater than Siekte's, but some are far less happy to go to him while he is awake. His abilities are not mutagenic while he is lucid, but there are rumors of dragons who have gone to his chamber and never returned.
The Failed Vessel
Sovri has been King of the Clan of Singing Blood before, though most dragons thought he was dead. Wild rumors circulated as to the cause of his death, though Bard knows the truth, he is a creature who favors embellishment and organic growth of stories, so only rarely disputes rumors. Several of the Council know parts of the story, and Siekte and Sahko are deeply familiar.

Some say he fell in battle taking the Inner Keep at the Wyrmwound from monsters. The most popular story is that he fell into the Wyrmwound itself while fighting on the balconies and cliffs. Those who dislike the King suggest he fell while attempting to flee, though none dare say that in any more than whispers. A few wonder if the Queen herself might have killed him (and a few of those would have liked that to be true). The idea that "He got sick and died" floats around occasionally, but is generally dismissed as nonsense. No king of plague could die in such a way. Funnily enough, this rumor is the closest to true out of any of them.

In reality, Sovri was not a natural-born dragon. He was a soul which had been summoned into a carefully prepared vessel. When the clan came near the Wyrmwound, and he with them, the deep plague magics which made up his body seemed to become invigorated and hostile, unmaking him in brutal fashion until his soul was released from the vessel.

Rebirth of the Brother
However, once done, the clan was left without a king, and Minstri's Quest had to begin again. She quickly poured her resources into scouring Sorneith for a new, suitable vessel for her brother.

No more than a single season passed when a Skydancer boldly ascended to the gate of the Inner Keep. The guards were stunned and instantly set to panic, as none had seen his approach. Glittering yellow eyes seemed to mock them as they attacked. He bounded away and laughed at them. "Now is that any way to greet your King?" They did not believe him - that Sovri should be a Light dragon seemed absurd and beyond comprehension.

They relented only once he had smashed every last one of them to the ground and strolled casually over their bodies to take his place beside his sister once more.

Elemental Schism
Sovri is a creature with highly unusual elemental relationships. This makes Sahko very keen to learn more about him, and Sovri is just as keen to keep Sahko from any such thing. He is as much a dragon as his sister, and was already old by the time he walked into the Keep, his body woven from light and flesh and forgotten knowledge.

His abilities seem very much aligned with the Plague element, but those who are very learned can see there is something more to it than that. He can weave flesh together and split it apart and shape it into new ways, something resembling very much the strange powers by which Emperors are born and sustained. He can capture disease and spread it to others as it pleases him, but that seems to be a secondary effect of his mastery of flesh.

His raw sorcery, however, is far more like that of a light dragon's. His words and chants and knowledge all clearly draw upon the Lightweaver's well.
Location Information: The King's Office
The King's Sprawl is the wing of the Keep which the king occupies. Save for a few private rooms, the area is mostly open and accessible to visitors. It is also where most Council Members have their personal rooms. Peryite, Susan, Avidan, and Sinflayer all reside in this area of the Keep.

Sovri’s chambers are the spaces he has claimed for personal use within the King’s Sprawl, all connected to the front room, which serves both as an office and audience chamber. The space within seems nothing like the rest of the plaguelands. Though it is the same stone and material as the rest of the keep, it is immaculately clean and brightly lit. It looks more like someone transplanted part of the Sunbeam Ruins into Scarwind Keep...
