Dragon Log

He was born only a few hours before Rollover on the last night of the Night of Nocturne, from a clutch of three eggs found earlier that same day. Like his "siblings" he is fascinated with the night sky, but unlike them he rarely indulges that fascination, preferring instead to learn more about Arcane magic, and how he can link it into his native Water talent. His powers however, work better at night, when the Moon is full. What that may mean about him is yet to be determined....

3-5-15: In keeping with his love of water, he has chosen a name that reflects that element... as well as reflecting his own secretive nature. He named himself after the dark "Sea of Moisture" referenced in one of the old scrolls as belonging on something called the Moon....

4-4-15: Humorum was startled out of his studies by an onslaught of familiars Awakening together—culminating in the Awakening if his own lifelong friend, the Southmarsh Podid he called “Moist”. At least Moist is not quite so loud as some…what on Sernioth is wrong with his “brother”’s Cursed Bat?

4-26-15: During the Wavecrest Saturnalia, Humorum journeyed to the Water Lands in the hope of finding and befriending a Water Bear. After all, it wasn't fair that his “brother” got the Sprite just because Spumans was born first... As it turned out, a certain Wavebreak Snarler agreed with the slightly jealous Nocturne, and Humorum very happily headed home with his new friend. Along the way, however, he was distracted by a "Help Wanted" Sign....

The Water Bear is now waiting patiently--and in some amusement--for his new friend to continue their journey. In the meantime, Moist, the Southmarsh Podid, has decided to show the bear a few things about the Clan....

5-3-15: Humorum has returned to the Clan from his adventure, filled with awe: He got a glimpse of the Tidelord! His efforts in helping the Mage Division of the Festival Security Detail have paid off in dividends, as he was able to not only help to thwart a threat from the Beastclans, but he also rescued a Prophecy Sphere... and was a honored guest at the party thrown by the Water Dragons at the end of the Festival. It was at that party that he saw his “Birth” Flight's God... and that one glimpse made everything else more than worth it. Even better, his newfound friend the Wavebreak Snarler is quite impressed with Humorum, and very proud to have chosen him. Right now the young dragon is walking on air.... and not likely to come down anytime soon!

7-25-15: The Wavebreak Snarler has Awakened! And just in time, too, as the Lightning Dragons of the Clan are getting ready to journey to the Shifting Expanse for their Festival., and Humorum has been torn between traveling with them to see another Flight's area, or staying behind with his friend…and now he won't need to choose. He can journey to the Expanse, secure in the knowledge that his fully bonded Bear will be able to take care of himself while he's gone--and won't be jilted on the bonding process during Festival time.

4-24-16: Humorum has been experimenting with his magic again, and this, coupled with the nearness of true Water Power while he was at the Wavecrst Saturnalia, has had an interesting result: he is now sporting the rather unique School Migration Accent on his wings. He is quite proud of the effect, and may very well keep it for some time to come....

4-23-18: After some time resting in the Clan, Humorum decided to return to his "birth" land for the Wavecrest Saturnalia. He is extremely worried about the rumors of the Tidelord having gone missing, and hopes to find some hints while at the Festival as to what is going on. At the moment, however, he is enjoying a submarine ride down to the depths, and trying his luck at some fishing for prophecies while he is at it...

...It seems that Humorum is not a very good fisher dragon. He found a crate, and a Shimmering Pinecone of all things...perhaps his abilities with illusions somehow influenced the cast? Whatever the reason, he did not a find a single fish, though he did find a prophecy....or at least what seemed to be a prophecy...

“A hooded stranger will come to your lair, seeking shelter. Invite them in, disregard appearances. Good fortune will follow them, but if you do not let them in, your clan will be cursed for generations to come.” Lir’s eyes momentarily glowed and Humorum shivered at his ominously blank expression.

“O-Ok…” Lir turned away and went back to what he was doing before. Humorum dismissed himself after a few minutes of no acknowledgement from Lir.

Hmm...It looks like the Clan should be on the lookout for hooded strangers....

6-3-18: No hooded strangers have visited the lair yet, though a new dragon has recently entered the Clan, and Humrourm was, in fact, one of those to welcome her. Polgara was not hooded upon her arrival, however--nor is she so now--so the Clan does not think that this was the "hooded stranger" meant by the prophecy. All the same, she is definitely a nice improvement to the Clan, and her new way of magic absolutely fascinates Humorum...

...And that fascination has led to an interesting result: The Clan's recently acquired Bubble Nymph, Jewel, is apparently attracted by strange and new magical auras. After only a few hours of Humorum trying to play with the "Will and the Word" concept of magic, Jewel wandered over. With a decided twinkle in her eye, the young Nymph offered her Bubble for the Nocturne's inspection, saying only "Errand?" For some reason, this caused Polgara to nearly choke on her food, and Ruth to collapse on the ground howling with laughter....

9-6-18: Jewel has Awakened! Humorum is happy to see his young friend fully mature at last, and he is interested to see what she might do next, especially now that she is strong enough to actively draw upon his magic for her own spells....

6-12-19: The recent surge of magical energy that has been making Changes to the dragons in the Clan has once again passed through an area of the caves, this time, rather predictably, affecting the dragons in the Magical Phenomena Cave Circle. In Humorum's case, it did not really come as a shock when he manifested an illusionary Fathomsearch Halo only a few minutes after he decided to play with a Fathomsearch Spirit Jug. It WAS a bit surprising, however, that the creatures that he managed to call out of the Jug were not, in fact, illusions...

3-12-20: Humorum continues to play with his magic, and prefect his illusions and spells. Sometimes his experiments have some very interesting results, as was the case today: While working on creating an illusionary tidal wave (in an attempt to better understand the influence of the moon on the waters near caves, and perhaps figure out what happened to the Tidelord when the Maelstrom hit), the Nocturne Mage felt himself being watched. Upon turning around, he saw that his illusionary "wind”--created to cause the wave--had attracted the attention of an extremely intrigued Construction Mith...and now the odd golem won't leave Humorum alone! Hmmm...perhaps the creature can help him to understand how to better "build" a wind storm, so he can truly see the effects? It's worth a try....

4-30-20: The Water Mage has taken a break from experimenting with his magic—or rather, he has decided to experiment in a different way. He is now headed to the Wavecrest Saturnalia, to see if he can persuade a friendly Tundra and his equally friendly Mantarune to help Humorum find a nice boat or two for his Trophy Shelf… ( )

…And now Humorum is in shock! His new friend, “Seeker” the Mantarune, has returned with three ships: A Red Tugboat, a Navy Container Ship…and The Caleuche! Of all the boat models the Illusionist Mage thought that he would acquire, a ship that helps drowned souls was definitely not on his list. Still, there is something about that ship…Perhaps his magic resonates with ghosts, because they are close to illusions? Regardless, it looks very nice on his Trophy Shelf…about as nice as “Seeker” looks in the water near the Clan’s cave…

6-9-20: Humorum is still reeling from his unexpected windfall during the Wavecrest Saturnalia, but he now has something new to distract him: His Construction Mith friend has Awakened! And even as Humorum started to congratulate him, the Golem Mith started to construct new, fare more sophisticated things, the first of which is a second Mith, a "Hydraulic Armored Protector." Humroum is not really sure why his friend thinks that the Clan needs another Mith Golem, but at least this one seems content to settle in the Hoard for the time being. Who knows? Maybe he'll find a new hatchling to bond with soon...
