Biography
The Darkhusk
of Daemon "Those bright eyes are empty. I've never encountered before a thing such as this. For all the world, a corpse, lacking only that vital detail of death." - Helveca, the Illuminated Mate: None Previous Mate: Aedon An Empty Body The Darkhusk of Daemon is the remains of the Seer Aedon's lover. Result of some terrible transformation brought about by a conflict with the Unknown Haunt which took up residence around the clan's lair. After several months of intermittent delirium and illness, the wildclaw opened his jaws and expelled his own essence in the form of a mad specter, spun by unknown forces into the general shape of a spiral dragon, though a spiral wrought primarily by insanity than by the holy work of the Windsinger. |
The wildclaw then collapsed, the vibrancy drained from his body and wings. A foolish healer might have suggested coma. But it was Aedon's reaction that revealed the body to be instead in some state of death, or emptiness. Sahko quickly took the body into his lab for study. He found that though the body lived, and could be prompted into action with careful command, it is naught more than empty vessel. Fully intent on further study of the matter, and what uses might come from the creation or manipulation of such dragons Sahko kept the body in his lab. While some like he might have been disturbed when the body went missing, he rather found it a wonderful mystery. Was it stolen? Did some outside force possess the husk? Was it Amanita's machinations that moved it beyond his reach? Did it come to move under its own power and wander aimlessly away, filled now by some newborn soul? He did not know, but it would be exciting to find out the answer. Recovery The answers to Sahko's questions were not revealed when the Darkhusk resurfaced, years later. It was found when Yuseph was sent to investigate rumors of a strange creature haunting clans at the edge of the Tangled Wood. Although it had been a very long time, the old scout instantly recognized the Darkhusk and taking some initiative, made to recapture it and return it to the clan. It did not prove to be a difficult task. The Husk was easily guided with only gentle prompting. Of course, Sahko wondered how it could have survived all this time. It surely could not have done so while wondering on its own. It would eat when it encountered and needed food, but it showed no inclination to hunt or even defend itself beyond the most simple avoidance. It was still empty, and Sahko was left with more questions than before. Where had it gone? What caused it to return? He would have to study the matter further. This time, he decided not to keep it in his lab, since it had already escaped from there once before. The Darkhusk of Daemon was placed under Villain's care, in the upper reaches of the Thawed Depths, as it is not thought that is was particularly dangerous. Exchange Sahko made an arrangement with Aima, and handed the Darkhusk over to her. |
