"Kings in this world should imitate God, their mercy should be above their works."

Bahamut's legend precedes him, tales of his conquest and reign are whispered around Sornieth. Though they may not hold the same weight that they once did, the stories are enough of a cautionary tale that many abide by. The words The Radiant still strike unease and fear into the hearts of many, and some will claim this fact alone is what allowed the dethroned king to persevere. Locked away for three years in the deepest of prisons under the watchful eye of the Icewarden, Bahamut's legacy was all that remained of him. Many thought him dead, didn't believe that he could ever have been imprisoned. They wanted proof, but proof was not possible. He was forgotten by many, and he waited. Three years of prison, after suffering from an unstable magical procedure left Bahamut a shell of what he once was. Hatred and anger burned in his veins while his body lay in atrophy. He was a prisoner in his body, one he could no longer control. It was the perfect prison, or at least it was meant to be. When the ruined king thought about the man who made him like this sometimes, just sometimes, his fingers would twitch. He kept at this the entire time, testing what he could get away with, pushing his boundaries. The day his face contorted into a snarl, he knew he could escape. And so he did/ The sunlight burned his eyes, and the wind felt like shards against his skin. He could hardly control himself, but he was determined. Revenge drove him, and he went to the only place he knew: Valorian. The island was gone, or rather, destroyed. The remnants of his city lay in ruin among the waves of the ocean, and Bahamut's heart broke. All he had built, all he had striven for. Even after his imprisonment no one had the guts to take up the mantle. His anger grew stronger. They took his life, and the life of his empire. They would pay. Due to his physical state, he was mostly unrecognizable. He was able to take shelter with other clans, poke around for information, and disappear if suspicion arose. Eventually word would spread that the Radiant King was no longer in prison, and he wanted to remain as invisible as he could until it was necessary. He peered into the minds of others and looked for a familiar face. Anyone would do, he could start with them. Morgana, Reaver, Asterion..Nocturne. He would find them. The first whispers he heard came from the mind of a young imperial, so stunningly similar to one he had known before his fall. He followed the trail, and found Madina. He had heard of the great earthen city before, the clan residing in calling themselves Skia. He made his way across Sornieth to find the dragon he saw in the young imperials mind. He went looking for his daughter, Morgana. |
