Biography
Clan Father
Bio By: Ditzy
Volleneth was the first, and through him the clan was able to be what it is today. Everyone looked up to him, and respected him. He was kind, no matter what kind of dragon you were he would greet you with a smile. You were sure to be treated nicely if you were a guest, because he went out of his way to make sure you were as comfortable as possible. It was infectious, in a way, and kept everyone in high spirits.
But he wasn’t always this cheerful, peaceful leader. Volleneth had a rough hatchlinghood, one he likes to keep to himself. He couldn’t stand the idea of burdening someone with his pain. But sometimes, when the moon has risen high in sky and he finds that he can’t rest, he reflects on everything that brought him here.
A small Mirror, the runt of a parentless clutch, Volleneth didn’t have much in the way of a future. One or two of his siblings perished early, and the others were lucky to be taken in by traveling clans. But he had no such luck. A longneck, a trader by profession, found the hatchling before any dragon could, and took him to be sold on the black market.
It was rough, especially as time went on. He was kept in a small crate with only two tiny holes to peak from, and roughly jostled from one beast to another. Some would keep him for a while, toting him in carts or strapped to their backs, but some would push him off to the next as soon as they got the chance. A dragon hatchling was only useful for ransom, no one wanted to keep the useless thing around.
It seemed hopeless. Sooner or later he would get handed off to a beast with a short temper, and that would be the end. He knew it, and he was all but resolved to his fate. Until one day, the beasts that were keeping him were ambushed by a fierce group of dragons. They rescued him, and gave him his name, Volleneth.
But these dragons were not the nicest. They belonged to a clan of warriors and assassins, who never seemed to smile or laugh. It was like being taken from one prison to another. They only wanted him so they could raise him to be a fighter, but Volleneth didn’t want that. So when he was big enough, he escaped.
The young dragon traveled for a long time. He didn’t know how to hunt well, and was barely able to survive. At night, he had dreams of small, cramped spaces and sharp tongued beasts, and sometimes of large, fierce dragons attacking him when he didn’t fight back. He started to doubt if running away was the best option. Sometimes it felt like it was the only option.
But one day, he was approached by another lone dragon. And another. And more and more until he wasn’t really alone anymore. At first, it was dizzying, and he didn’t know if he could handle it. Suddenly this group was looking to him as some sort of leader, and a leader he had never been. So he did the only thing he could do: show them kindness.
And that’s how Volleneth got where he is today. However, he has grown older, and with his age as retired to the status of an elder. In his place, he has appointed Brin to oversee the clan. Even so, he still greets every newcomer happily, and makes sure they are as comfortable as possible. It’s the least he can do.

Volleneth was the first that was followed by many. Though he sustains wounds from the past, his cheerful demeanor never faltered and he happily greets every new dragon that enters the lair. Whether permanent or just visiting, Volleneth ensures the comfort of his guests and clan mates. Though with his age, he has settled down as an elder figure and appointed Brin as the overseer of the clan's activities.
