Biography

  • talks in flowing riddles and icy words - one is reminded of a melting river, which had just found it's rhythm
  • moves fluidly and elegantly - see again, flowing river
  • prophesies consist of romance and relationships (family, friends, mates)
  • carries herself confidently
  • as a result of all of this, Delphine is highly respected
  • Groove gifted Delphine with his father's cape, which solidified Delphine's position in the clan
  • Groove has a soft spot for the prophetess, but Delphine is oblivious
  • has mental connection with Amina, and accepts Amina's choice to go serve the Shadowbinder

"Where the ice met the moon, the separation began." Delphine grew closer to the still form of her sister, the conflicting glow of her sisters' body was difficult to miss.

"Yes, Del." Not many within the clan could understand Delphine, but Amina could - always could.

"Flowing water rushes to meet the break, the melting will be paused?" One was never sure how the daughter of the prophet could ask questions, but it was never difficult for the daughter of the union. There was a lilt in her voice, a change in tone.

"I must." Amina roused then, turning her lovely head to the sky. "I am sorry that my intentions were never clear, sister. I did not wish to--"

--hurt me. I know, just as I know that "The river cannot pause it's flowing at the whim of the moon." Both women had never been so glad for their mental - and spiritual connection. It would help them both immensely when the time came.

"Exactly. Besides, it's difficult to breathe when the moon is stuck between the river and the sky. It was never my destiny to be free."

Delphine and Amina shared a look, conveying their immense pride in how far the other has come. A chill fell over them both, and the sisters faced the rhythmic motions of the ocean in front of them, ever silent as the creaks of their mother's frozen limbs moved towards them.

"Groove has been told, daughter of the union. The sun will rise and you will fly to meet your maker."

"You have never been soft with your words, Mother, but I give you my thanks." Delphine turned to look at the Ice Guardian, meeting the cold eyes of the equally cold dragon, before looking back at Amina. "I am well aware, Del. I know that is the best she can do with expressing her affection but I am not the ice and I need more."

"I see. I will take my leave of you, daughter of the union. I apologize for not being the mother you wished me to be. Farewell, my children." There was barely a creak of her limbs to indicate her leaving, and the air grew warm again.

That was cruel, sister. Unnecessary.

"I am beyond caring, Delphine. My entire existence has been painful since the moment I hatched and I will not be belittled by those who have had it easy in life!" Amina had risen in anger by this point and stormed to the cliff face, her claws clutching the earth beneath her.

"The moon is not everlasting and neither are its children, for when they speak in tongues it will be like stones in the throat and thorns in the side." You are not the only one whose existence has been difficult, Amina Union. Delphine rose and stalked to the forest's edge, a strange emotion simmering in her veins.

"Delphine!" Amina was distraught, realising her mistake, and turned to face her sister. Delphine paused, and Amina felt her heart jump. "I-I am sorry, I did not mean to--"

You never mean to, do you? Delphine shook her head softly, and continued into the forest. Farewell, daughter of the union. May the moon look upon you favorably.

Amina, daughter of the union, watched her sister disappear within the forest for perhaps the last time, and swallowed the lump in her throat as she curled in on herself on the cliff. If a tear escaped her eye, she didn't stop it, and so the union of the moon and the ice wept long into the night.

When the time to leave fell upon Amina, and her wings spread wide and pushed her into the sky, and she looked down upon her only home; she noticed one thing. Delphine, daughter of the prophet and sister of the union, had not come to bid her farewell. So she steeled herself and didn't look back.

I love you.

"I-I love you too..."

Amina's heart soared and so did her wings, and the Shadowbinder welcomed her within her ranks.
