Egg stolen from an experimental creche of bogsneaks by a very persistent akirbeak thief owned by Idrykith, Bast was raised totally unlike his fellow specimens. Like the crown prince and princess, the Heir adopted the young dragon and was as unwilling to let the hatchling go so soon and completely appalled by the experiments Bast had been part of. The enthralling Nakia's insistence that they go was met with stalwart protest. Bit by bit he wore down her resolve with promise of the life they could both have here and rank she only pretended at.
