Known by his clanmates simply as "Fade", a nickname he earned early on. You won't see him coming, no matter how flashily he might dress. Reading the eye -and muscle movement of other dragons is his special ability, and lets him walk and fly where no-one will notice, even by a crowded trading post. When on a mission, he brings several skins to remain anonymous.

The life of an assassin is neither honorful nor comfortable, and yet Fade has chosen to dedicate his life to ridding the world of enemy clan leaders. He favors poison, but is also quite skilled with the move eliminate. Although solitary by nature, Fade used to fight alongside Nightlock and Jotun in the coliseum, a frivolous sport that he abandoned after losing his beloved.

Fade was mated to Platina the Lairkeeper guardian. She always worried about those who might act upon their grudges against the dedicated hitdragon, and so she started protecting him in little ways whenever she could. She spread false rumors about his bases, missions, targets, and current locations. She had True show her how to set up a simple ward, and often stayed up for days maintaining it whenever Fade was home. She pretended to be asleep, of course, or he'd find out. With her around, he always slept like a baby, vulnerable underbelly in the air for all to see. Whenever anything stepped through her ward she'd lash out, not even looking to see who or what she'd hit. Once, the clan leader Alicia had flown in with a job for Fade, and Platina's claws had nearly finished the tiny fae off. Alicia still carries an eye scar from that incident. Platina killed off several assassins in this manner, and doubtlessly kept more at bay.

The dedicated wife also made sure to always have a nibble of Fade's food before bringing it to him, a habit that brought her story to an end. Bringing in a steaming plate of croaker legs from the kitchen waiting hall, Platina munched one as per usual... and then started feeling numb. Understanding dawned, and so she went to Fade's cave with the food. She told him of the poison, then slowly laid down as her legs started shaking. She did not have long, but she got to see him. She had protected him as well as she could. Contentment and love welled up inside her, and she felt at peace.

Fade's eyes widened in shock. He roared out, panicking, calling for the healers, the potionmaster, anyone to help her as he held her majestic head as well as his diminute mirror claws allowed. He was crying now, shaking, hugging her head and calling to her as her radiant, clear-ice eyes slowly dimmed.

The healers never got a chance to save her, the poison was both quick and lethal. Fearing the body would leak toxic miasma, they had to tranquilize Fade in order to carry Platina away from the clan. He does not resent the healers for this; they did what was best both for him and for the safety of the clan. After mourning for months, Fade emerged from his cave one night to find Alicia waiting for him. The fae tipped her head, appearing to study him. She was the only dragon whose body language confused him; she often moved in a manner that was not dragon-like at all. However, he understood the unspoken question in the movement, and so he answered.

It was not in vain. From now on, she lives in me, and I will protect our family with our feelings; mirror instinct and guardian protectiveness in one. We shall be your unsheathed sword, a naked blade to slice as you see fit. Wield us for the sake of our home.

Assassinating often involves walking around in the dark and handling sharp items, so Sir Mise started wearing protective braces. His cusp was the skull of a foe Tundra long gone, the shoulder shield a memento of a skydancer who almost bested him. Once. He then decided to solve the issue once and for all, abandoning apparel forever and dusting off an old scroll he'd received as pay from a rather dodgy merchant. Becoming an ancient, full of instinct and with some of his late wife's protectiveness appealed to him anyways, and if it'd improve his night vision as well then what was there not to love?

Soon afterwards he learned the importance of grooming, a concept quite foreign to mirrors.
