Boreas was a fairly old member of the Clan of the Radiant Star, having been with them since their days in the Starfall Isles. He is fiercely loyal and protective, especially of his mate Snowfall. His interaction with the clan was mostly minimal, however, as he spends a lot of his time in the forests of the Southern Icefield, hunting prey and trading with the native clans there.

As it happened, on one such trip, over the course of several months, one of his biggest opponents was a Coarsefur Yeti that he kept running into again and again. The first few times they met, a fierce battle erupted, and each time this battle ended with injuries and retreat on both sides. Eventually, they grew extra wary of each other, for each had great skill. Not wanting to risk life and limb, they began to avoid each other instead.

On one particularly snowy and treacherous night, Boreas came across a pack of shade-infested winter wolves surrounding his adversary. He fought off the wolves (for the Shade is the bane of every living thing, and must be stopped) and turned to face the Yeti, who was badly wounded. Yet in that Yeti's eyes he saw a certain understanding, and he felt a great kinship. It was on this night that they turned from foe to friend, and today Boreas never travels without his Yeti companion while in the snowy expanse of Ice Flight's territory.
