Observations & Notes: Subject 5385 very nearly invoked his runes upon hatching, though it soon became apparent that wasn't his intention. He explained he was just trying to figure out what they said. After the potency of his and other Runecatchers' runes had been explained to him, he refrained from trying to decipher his own runes, but expresses a strong curiosity in others' runes and, indeed, any other writing at all.

It was soon evident that he possessed not only a voracious appetite for words and knowledge, but also an eidetic memory. He enjoys puzzles and codes, encrypting and de-crypting them at will. He has been repeatedly discouraged from offering to try to read fellow Runecatchers' runes, but has paid the warning little mind.

Fortunately, Subject 5385 is not selective in what he enjoys reading, translating, and solving. We have successfully distracted him from any experimentation with runes by providing him with plenty of reading material - everything from books of folklore to sets of encyclopedias to cookbooks.

While absorbed in reading, he pays attention to very little else, and can sit still for hours, transfixed by a particular book. When his reading material is absent, however, he has a tendency to wander off, and shows an impressive ability to get into trouble.

Supervision strongly recommended, or at the very least a great deal of reading material. Further study recommended. Trivia competitions with the subject are discouraged.
