"Half of seeming clever
is keeping your mouth shut
at the right times.
- Well... that's what I heard..."

Tybal is a giant Imperial, one among the largest of this breed. He possesses a very long serpentine body, but compared with his massy torso his pair of fringed leather wings seem to be all too small.

The dragon is reserved with his words, distant emotionally and difficult to read with those, who are not familiar with him. But those who can be considered being close to Tybal know for certain, that the big Imperial is actually a pretty gentle and sweet guy. So to speak a giant with a kind heart--a heart of gold.

The dragon loves hatchlings and abhors unnecessary violence. However, when push comes to shove, he's great to have on your side in battle.

One of his best frieds Mythos, a skilled storyteller, loves to chaff the giant with a story of the past....
Mythos wrote:
The story goes, my friends, as youngster a lill'spiral named Fiendre, once tried to crawl into an Imperials nostrils.

The Imperial was big and Fiendre was just little enough to fit right into his object of investigation.

After some time the poor sleeping dragon awoke from a tingling sensation at his nasal area. Sneezing and sneezing over and over also did no good: The Imperial just could not get rid of this strange sensation.

His struggle awoke the other dragons who soon found the problems' cause. So, the clanmembers then had to pull, literally pull the young Spiral out, as that one got stuck a little bit up the way of the Imperials nose....

After finally freeing the poor Imperial (they got Fiendre out after some struggle), the little dragon got questioned about its reasons to do such things.

He had no bad intentions you see, Fiendre just wanted to verify, if Imperials do have snot and of what color it might be....

Well, it goes without question that the curious little one was monitored very closely afterwards.

Tybal and Fiendre had a little rough start but together with Mythos they had become very good friends. The three of them where often seen straying and wandering the vicinity when they were young. Even nowadays they spent time together, enjoing each others company.

Backstory:

Edval, a wise mature guardian knew the importance of strong, mighty, trained warriors in a clan and he knew that one day, when the clan would need them, they'd better be prepared. Then he met Tybal, a giant softie at heart and loved hatchlings and hated violence. Edval felt irritated by his carefree mindset and decided that Tybal needed to experience how rough the world could be. So he called on some old friends who owed him a favor. Edval had visited Eeyore’s Correctional facility many years ago when his ex-best friend had been imprisoned there. He got to know the guards and even the prison headmaster, he even saved her from a prisoner who had gotten overly rowdy. Now she owed him a favor and it was time for him to call upon that favor. So, Edval sent a messenger to Pickles, informing her of the situation and asking, if she minded supervising Tybal’s training. He explained that he wanted to toughen Tybal up, showing him the hardships of life; and Pickles had just the guard for the job. Her husband Kiliac was the toughest, meanest dragon in the whole prison and he could toughen up anybody. Edval made the arrangements to send Tybal the following week!

Present Day: (Tybal’s Point of View)

Well, today’s the day! I slowly approach the large metal gates and see a sign hanging from them that reads: “Eeyore’s Correctional Facility”. Even the name fills me with a bit of fright and I’m shaking as I ring the bell.

“Why, of all places, did Edval send me here?” I wonder. “Yes, I’m supposed to be training the new hatchlings and new recruits and yes, I may be a giant sweetheart and softie but there’s a lot of scary people at a prison. What did I do to deserve this?”

I ring the bell again and soon a large, semi-friendly snapper comes waddling up to the gate and looks me over. “You must be Tybal, the new trainee here. Well, don’t just stand there, hurry up and get in!”

I rush to follow her as she heads back to the prison. I have so many questions in my head, but before I can ask, she thrusts a pile of paperwork in my claws.

“Sign these, they are your release forms, confidentiality agreements, and medical information. These inmates know when you are new and like to use that to their advantage. We need to know this stuff so when… I mean IF… you get hurt, we know the important information.” She chuckles to herself and begins tidying her office.

I read through each page and ponder whether it was right for me to be here, but I couldn’t back out now! I quickly sign them all and she gets on the phone to her guards and finds an available guard for me to follow for the day. She informed me that the first day was orientation, after that I’d be on my own and the inmates would train me! Beads of sweat formed on my brow and I started to shake, Pickles just laughs and goes about her business. She looks like as if she quite enjoys the whole situation!

Soon, the guard I was assigned to, enters the office. Pickles speaks with him privately for a moment and then introduces us.

“Kiliac, I would like you to meet a very important dragon. This is Tybal and he’s here to train with us, I was told to whip him into shape, so he isn’t a giant soft ball of mush anymore. You think you can manage that?” Pickles asked her head guard, knowing full well he could manage that task better than anyone else.

“No problem, Ma’am! Tybal here will be a hardened warrior in no time!”

Thinking back, Kiliac smiled evilly as he ushered me out of the office. I was scared for my life and followed him, heads down. Kiliac must have sensed my fear because he suddenly gives me a comforting smile.

“Don’t worry, everyone’s afraid at first. My advice: Avoid Aerona, she’s known to kill people…for fun!” He laughes and we continue down the corridor that led to the prison cells.

I look around me to get a feeling for the place. This prison is full to capacity and you can hear the screams and loud boisterous raucous that are coming from the cells. This place gives me the chills! As we enter the actual dormitories of the prison, I already knew: There is going to be a rough road ahead. From Kiliac I heard, that murderers, thieves, liars, and even terrorists lived in these cells and they hate the guards, especially new guards.

My first few days at the prison were spent fearfully hiding and slowly learning the ropes. The inmates laughed at me and continued to break the rules, knowing I wouldn’t do anything. They spit at me, threw things at me, called me names, and even whistled at me. I felt like I was the joke of the prison. Then came the day of the “incident.”

I'm assigned to watch “Exalt Row”, which is home to the worst offenders and they must have sensed it was my first time guarding there, because they are especially boisterous and violent with each other. They are fighting, cursing, throwing things, anything they can do to cause chaos. I did not react to the insults since the day I came here, botteling his nasty feelings up deep inside of me as I hate to use violence or harsh words to sort things out!

But one day, I just snapped-- I had enough! Even the nicest of guys only can bear so much. So I just grab the baton tighter and I whacked a giant snapper over the head with it, until he slumps to the ground, unconscious. I turn to the other dragon, who was fighting with him and threaten him with cold voice, to hit him too if he doesn’t cut it out. All the dragons in the wing are shocked, they had never seen a guard get so angry before.

I'd not take any more nonsense from them. They'd better not consider me the big softie I was when I came here! I showed I had a heart of steel and wasn’t afraid to show violence to prove my strength!

Later that day on exalt row, as I walk by some cells, doing my rounds, I could hear some dragons whispering about my fellow clanmate, Edval, and how he was a giant pushover that could easily be overtaken. I then could see myself rush into the cell, grabbing the one inmate around his scrawny little neck, and telling him that, if he ever talked bad about Edval again or if anyone tried to overthrow my clan based on this dragon’s words than I would personally exalt him, not even feeling bad at all about it. The gossiping group scatters, scared and shaking at my words.

That time in the “Exalt Row” was the very first time ever I had used violence to get the upper hand over an other dragon. It was only when I came back to the dormitories to get some rest, when I first realized what had happened. First I was shocked about my own doings, but reflecting over it I understood that it maybe was the only way for me to survive in this place.
I started to change from my experience here, feeling myself toughen up. Maybe this was what Edval had in mind for me?, I though.

I had finally gained respect from the prisoners and I was proud of what I had accomplished. Soon I would return to my home lair and I would use the strength, courage, and attitude I gained here to add to its safety and order! I'm going to be the best trainer I could be.

I had never been one for showing emotions and this situation was no different. Looking back to my days at the prison, I just took this new experience to heart and I learned from it. It taught me a lot about how to be a cool, collected, strong trainer and it taught me that even though I may have soft tendencies, a large dragon like me should be aggressive and a calculated warrior if the situation requires it from me. To never hesitate and then let things go out of controll. Sometimes an agressiv and strong dragon is needed to protect those dear to you.

During my last night in the prison many thoughts were running through my head. I could imagine Edval being very proud of the dragon I had become in the last few weeks and I only hoped that I could prove myself to the rest of the clan as a mighty warrior.

When I walked into Pickles’ office at the end of my training, she was shocked at the report that Kiliac gave her. He told her that if I was ever in need of a job as a prison guard, I should be the first one she hires. This made me happy, not that I’d ever show it, and it gave me a sense of accomplishment. I couldn’t wait to exit through those scary gates and return to my clan, the new dragon that I was.

~ Maintaining Order ~

"No Clan should be without order and protection."
- Edval

As the Clan continued to grow, new problems emerged from the coexistence of so many different breeds and characters. Situations tended to heat up easily.

After the very first big conflict was averted--the riot initiated by Krashos and his “Treasure Hunters” that nearly cleaved the Clan in two--Edval often thought about ways to prevent such events in the future. He spent hours of talking and planning together with Tybal; and during the next conference they presented their ideas to the the clan leaders and the other elders, to maintain the order inside and to protect the clan from any danger coming from the Beastclans or other lairs, a new institution was needed.

Even if every dragon of the Clan was eager to protect it, for this idea to be able to work they had to put policing in the context of a bigger structure, they needed volunteers that were willing to go through a rigorous training to form a group of professionals.

By giving them special rights, the other clan members were no longer allowed to take law into their own hands or to randomly challenge the Beastclans whenever they felt like it. Those matters were now overlooked and organized by the trained officers. Top priority was--and will always be-- to maintain the well-being of the entire family.

The Warrior Squad/Military Force is the judicial organisation of Àidhear, founded by the elders Edval and Tybal in order to keep their family safe. It's main purpose is to maintain the law and to protect everyone from external danger.
