- Sahkovirta, the Arcane Conduit

The Spellbinder's Story

Dominance
Sahko chose a bad time to venture into the Scarred Wasteland. He came seeking historical details and truths into the progression of life on Sorneith, having intended to pass through the Scarred Wasteland first, then visit the Viridian Labyrinth once his initial studies were complete, mainly because the Scarred Wasteland bordered the Starfall Isles.

However, his journey coincided with an intense conflict between the children of Plague and Light. It was more than mere poor planning on his part, as almost any other dragon could have warned him of his foolishness, had he ever thought to ask. However, he had always been absorbed in his work, to the exclusion of all other things. So, when he finally did journey away from home, he knew nothing of the world and less than nothing of the conflict he was to blunder into.

Sahko's task was dwarfed by the contest he found himself caught up in. He fled through the Scarred Wasteland, but even his swift flight and the dangers swirling around him did not deter him from taking notes, from his studies. He observed the mighty flow of elemental energies swirling through ancient tribal locations as masses of dragons gathered to give their power and even their lives to their profane god.

It was in the witness of these great rituals that he began a new pursuit. To understand the ways in which elemental energies are channeled through dragons and the gods of dragons. To bind himself to this immense exchange of power.
He was driven half mad by his observations and even his interference in the workings of the powerful plague priests he encountered and was himself nearly sent to serve the Plaguebringer directly. Indeed, he had been on a pilgrimage to the Wyrmwound when he passed through the territory of the Clan of Singing Blood.

He was caught by the high priest of this clan, who promised to escort him to the Plaguebringer's domain and allow him to observe the workings of Exalted Dragons therein. The Queen of this clan had another purpose in mind for him.

When she saw him, she called to her priest and halted Sahko's passage to the Plaguebringer.

"You may yet come to serve our Mother, as all things do, but first, you will serve me. Through me, you will learn your desires and grow to them. Only then will you be released unto our Mother's breast."

And so the Arcane spiral came to join the clan, setting out to uncover the elemental secrets of the Plaguebringer and Her domain.

Focus
Sahko is obsessive about his work. Though he does spend some of his time in study, he prefers more practical research. He has several roles within the clan, sometimes operating as a project manager, of sorts, but far preferring to be directly involved in research. His tasks are sometimes directed by the clan leaders, and while he takes to any puzzle set before him with great enthusiasm, he is often most effective when left to his own pursuits.

He frequently works closely with Sovri for these endeavors, but for the Queen he serves a more specific purpose. For her, he acts as a power battery and is involved intimately in her various rituals. Through him, she is able to channel for greater amounts of elemental energy into her workings than she could do otherwise.

Due perhaps to his coming to the Scarred Wasteland when he did, or to his close relationship with the Queen, Sahko is generally regarded to be quite mad.

lore_arcane9933737.png Research Subjects
In his pursuit of elemental enlightenment, Sahko has studied countless dragons and non-dragon creatures. He has gazed eagerly into eldritch spheres. He has conducted experiments which pry up the very edges of truth and reality, trying to get a glimpse of what lies beyond. How the elements flow through the world and dragons and all creatures, why they are, and what stands opposed to them are all matters of his investigation.
Children
Sahko has a number of children by different mothers, most of whom were or are research subject or assistants, the impropriety of this being of some note to clan members who dislike him, or particularly gossipy individuals. For Sahko, however, his progeny are little more than a curiosity and an extension of his studious pursuits.

Matricide and the Machines
Sahko's former assistant is also a member of the Machine Faction, a group which holds no particular interest for him. He does like to keep tabs on their activities, in case they should ever happen upon any interesting discoveries; although, he doesn't hold much hope for such a thing. He finds them to be a generally offensive and misguided bunch. He did like Matricide. She was a most dutiful assistant, and despite her involvement with the group, she seemed to not be entirely beyond hope. She apparently disagreed with his assessment, or just in some impishness wanted to prove him wrong. She still lets him study her from time to time.
Corrosion
Corrosion makes a far more able and focused assistant... as well as a very interesting subject. The afflicted occultist has had experiences with otherworldly creatures which have had lasting effects on him. His affliction is interesting as well, as his elemental powers cause his body to produce caustic compounds, due to some supposed curse upon his family by the Plaguebringer. Of course, the Machine faction couldn't keep their hands off him either. They are most meddlesome.

The King also favors Corrosion, and while Sovri refuses to allow Sahko to study him directly, Sahko can carefully track the trace magic left within the pearlcatcher after he has gone to the king for healing.

The Charred Elemental
An accident in the smithy reduced the Crucible's former guardian to elementally charged ash, which Sahko procured for his studies. During his experiments, Sahko discovered that he could prompt the remains to animate briefly with the careful application of resonant elemental magics. He pursued this to the only logical conclusion, eventually reanimating the dragon Zahmet as a creature of swirling ash, char, and magic.

While he sorely wishes he could have had more time to study the resultant creature, the discoveries he made will fuel many projects to come. With every answer comes six more questions.

Read Zahmet's Bio here...
Amanita
Sahko's primary subject of interest is Amanita. A dangerous Fae with mysterious powers and a strange heritage. Few dragons besides Sahko see her, and though he keeps her well contained with powerful magics, she is allowed to wander his lab freely if she pleases.

Other dragons find her to be extraordinarily disturbing and would prefer her not exist at all. Inspite of all of Sahko's efforts to keep her contained, she has nonetheless proven quite consistently that she has ways around him. She causes chaos throughout the lair and territory, sometimes subtle, and sometimes not. Her unknown machinations are far-reaching.

Sahko knows this, and but that only makes her more appealing to him, even when he himself becomes the subject of her games... perhaps especially then...
