Biography
Preroden Stonewatcher
Steward of the Inner Keep Mate: None/Any Previous Mate: Abirata, Zeravica, Calcifer Art: by destinyWeb "I can think of no dragon of plague so shamefully spoiled as the Steward of the Keep. He has more in common with a light dragon in their shining vaulted halls than with any of the scarred wasteland. It is a shame that of all of Susan and Peryite's children, he is the one that stayed with us." |
Role Preroden is the firstborn son of Susan and Peryite, a surprise to most of the clan save the Broodwatcher, who of course knew the pair had made use of his nests. Something of a wonder to both, he is somewhat spoiled, being very well-loved by his parents. This show of affection manifests in different ways from each. Though he is highly intelligent, he was always Helveca's least favorite student, perhaps due to the teacher's dislike of his mother. Preroden is quite vain, thinking very highly of himself. He is not unkind, but his kindness is sometimes tainted with unnecessary judgments and unwanted pity, though he usually means well. He is still a plague dragon, and very good at avoiding danger and working with and around potential threats. Though he is not physically powerful, his magic is potent enough to see him through most trouble he encounters. His greatest strength is that he is good at working with other dragons, especially the fae of Scarwind Keep. He has a close relationship with the Colony Speaker. Roden got his position in the clan largely due to his father. At first, most of the duties Roden was meant to see to were things Peryite rathered to not deal with himself. This has expanded over time to make Roden the general authority on the upkeep and management of Scarwind Keep. Unfortunately, Roden is a bit more lazy than he ought to be about his duties, and far more prefers to enjoy the comforts that his high rank afford. Avidan serves as his assistant, and between the two of them, the Keep is kept in order, if only just. It helps that Lir handles the most complicated matters surrounding the clan's rituals and ceremonies. Relationships Roden is somewhat picky about mate selection, but his tastes are wide and varied, and it is not too difficult to please him. He has no preferences for any arrangement of gender, but there is a certain aesthetic that he likes, and he can be shallow about it. His pride tends to get in the way of maintaining a long-term bonded partner. He has a mixed relationship with Annabel. She causes no end of mischief in the Keep, and generally makes life more difficult for him. Still, she manages to be a close friend and is occasionally receptive to his courtship. It doesn't improve her behavior any, but maybe that is what he likes about her. She frustratingly refuses to mate with him, however. That is probably for the best, though. Her father is terrifying... but it is her uncle who has been the only one to make any overt threats. Running the keep would be much harder if Avidan were unhappy with him. Pearl Roden's pearl was destroyed during a brief hostile incursion into the Keep. It was later believed that this incursion was due to a powerful monster escaping the Thawed Depths, a fact that only came to light after the Warden Majka's removal. |
In the Scarwind Keep, the fae worked doubly hard, they wanted to make sure the place was well-kept so that Roden would not have to worry about his duties, but they sorely missed their friend and would be at a loss without him before too long. Peryite was filled with fury over the incident and went alone into the boneyard to hunt down the thing responsible. It was a terror which spewed corrosive toxin, withering and poisoning all life which came near to it, and rendering stone and metal as brittle as spun sugar. The old skydancer was not a fighter. Indeed, none in the clan had ever seen him truly battle anything, and so it was thought that his quest would be mad suicide. But Peryite returned victorious, though he had been cursed by the creature, and his every exhalation was poison, and he could no longer touch any other dragon without making careful and intensive preparations. |
Territory Maps

These Scrolls contain information on all the regions in the clan territory. Updated 7/26/19 The Inner Keep - Scar Wind Keep Referred to within the clan itself mainly as "the Inner Keep" its name, historically, has been "the Scar-Wind Keep" or some variation on that theme. It is far older than the Clan of Singing Blood and was claimed by the clan through several successful conquests in the area. The structure is situated on the inner rim of the Wyrmwound, and is split down the center on the side facing the Wyrmwound by a deep chasm which runs through and under it on that side. The chasm is what grants the keep its name, as depending on the conditions of the Wyrmwound, the chasm will sometimes be filled with toxic gasses and windstorms. The lowest reaches of the chasm are also prone to flooding. Places within the Keep • The Queen's Spires A pair of towers where the queen works and spends her time. Access to this area is limited to Minstri and Sovri, though rarely others will be invited to see the Queen there. Grabal's room is at the base of the Queen's Spires. • The King's Sprawl The wing of the keep which the king occupies. Save for a few private rooms, the area is mostly open and accessible to visitors. It is also where most Council Members have their rooms. Peryite, Susan, Avidan, and Sinflayer all reside in this area of the Keep. • The Library Overseen by Egeria and frequented by many scholars, both Clan members, and visitors. • The Brood Lair Overseen by Eideif. A set of balconies under the keep which also overlook the Wyrmwound. The nesting chambers are deeper within, through a single nest sits on the edge of one of those balconies and is considered an especially honored spot. Also an especially dangerous one. • The Vault Overseen by Kerberos. The secure keeping for the clan's horde and valuable assets. • The Black Depths Seikte's domain. A sprawling network of tunnels beneath the keep. The main chambers being near the bottom of the bisecting chasm under the keep itself. From here there are two paths which connect to the deepest chambers below the Bonestrewn Crest. • The Altar A great platform of stone hung above the Wyrmwound by massive cables of flesh, sinew, and wild growth. • The Blood Pit Combat arena. Used for training and settling disputes. Clifftown - Bonestrewn Crest While the Inner Keep may be the clan's seat of power, the heights of the Bonestrewn Crest and the cavernous regions within and below it are the heart of the Clan of Singing Blood. Places in Clifftown • The Black Depths Seikte's domain. A sprawling network of tunnels beneath the cliffs. There are two paths which connect to the deepest chambers below Scar Wind Keep. • The House of Lore Scholars Guild house. Previously organized by Tephra, but now run by Helveca. Serves as a resource for learning and study. • The Old Nests Though the Clan of Singing Blood makes use of the nests in the Keep, the old nesting grounds still stands. Eideif doesn't oversee it, and it is open for use to the draconic denizens of Clifftown. • The Crystal Chambers Sahko's laboratory. • The White Prison Overseen by Ayna. • The Bone Pit Combat arena. Used for training and settling disputes. Outer Territories The clan of Singing Blood also has claim on a stretch of the Boneyard around the Cliffs. This is measured out by where shadows can be observed to fall, cast by the cliffs, in early-midmorning during the Riot of Rot. Roughly speaking, though monuments and markers defining the bounds of the territory have been raised. Other clans, both dragon, and beast reside within this area and fall under the protection of the Clan of Singing Blood. |
