"He? Strange creature.

Profane and beautiful marriage between verdant life and virulent plague.

His creed cycles life, death, life, watching those things turn over and over again with patient and gentle hand."

Passages through Plague

Chalcedony
Zamori joined the Clan of Singing Blood before it had a name, and long before his name was Zamori. At that time Beatfluer was still Minstri's mate, and Grabal did not yet stand at her side, only Peryite and Bloodstone.

At that time his name was Chalcedony, and after joining the fledgling clan he became good friends with Peryite. When the Exodus occurred, both Peryite and Chalcedony joined another clan, home mainly to other Dancers, and while Peryite returned immediately upon hearing of his Queen's appearance, Chalcedony felt no such compulsion. Especially since he had come to find a mate in his new home. Peryite maintained some correspondence with his old friend, but eventually, Chalcedony's replies came slower, and slower, then stopped altogether.

Sickness
Chalcedony lived quite happily for many years among his kin, and none realized the strangeness which slowly took hold of him, compelling him to walk through the Boneyard. He had always enjoyed travel and walks.

There was, some strange strain of homesickness within his heart, but instead of finding his way back to the Gladekeeper's forests, he instead searched with increasing madness the Scarred Wasteland. Eventually, the others in his clan did begin to notice the leanness of the dragon, how his previously silvery hide had become thin and translucent. Mites and insects and rot took refuge within his plumage.

Concern for his deterioration prompted several other clanmates to convince him to visit his birthplace, thinking that might help ease his blossoming madness. He agreed and was accompanied for on his journey to the Viridian Labyrinth, though it was a long trip. Among the trees and greenery Chalcedony did find comfort. He was watched carefully by his mates, who wondered if he would ever return to the Scarred Wasteland now that he had come here. He did however, come to them when he felt ready to return home.

"I have been away for far too long now, I know. I hope I might be forgiven for taking so long to learn what it was I needed."

Pleased with the success of their trip, his companions led him back through Dragonhome to the Scarred Wasteland. However, once they reached the Wandering Contagion, he slipped away from them and went to cross the Boneyard alone.
Return Home
The strangely withered dragon did return home, but not to the home his friends had thought he meant. Though the clan had a new name and a new lair, he still found it, drawn by some unknowable power.

He found his old friend waiting for him on the edge of the territory, Peryite's plumage, perhaps a little faded with age now, but otherwise, he was unchanged, unlike the withered creature that approached him. But Peryite knew his friend and welcomed him home.

Zamori
When others asked his name, he gave the name Zamori, claiming the Queen had given him that new designation in a dream, and filled him with new life.

Indeed, Zamori is full of life, the roots of trees winding through his body and wrapping around his bones. Within his clinging, rotting flesh resides colonies of insects and vermin, nesting where organs should be. In spite of his frightening appearance, birds perch fearlessly upon the creaking upper reaches of his wings and boughs, and no living creature flees from him, though many often flee to him. Heavy layers of moss hang from his body and nourish the many creatures he hosts. He walks with grace and relates to others gently.

Some members of the clan do not think he is a dragon at all, but rather a legion of other things which have taken the form of a dragon. This is not true, but also, not entirely false.

Zamori looks after the animals and beasts who live with the clan. His unsettling presence has a calming effect on most creatures, including many Beastclan, making them easier to negotiate with and to work with.
