Selena has had many years experience of battling. She and Percy are heavily respected in the clan due to their hard work and diligence, and of course their protection. So when a new year rolled around, Xihe went to her annual gathering to talk and pray with other Light ambassadors. When she returned, she had two brand new, pristine Light banners - one for herself and one for another she deemed worthy.
Xihe almost immediately turned around and gave the banner to Selena. She fit all requirements: a warrior, loyal to her clan, and most importantly, loyal to her deity.
Selena graciously accepted despite all the new responsibilities that came with it. Her duty to protect no longer stopped at her clan. She was the clan's first "Bannerman", as November titled them, and her duty was to protect the banner. The banner must never fall, must never tear, must never be stolen or destroyed. It is a symbol of dedication and loyalty to the Lightweaver, and Selena will defend it with her life, if necessary.
