BEGINNINGS
Eyes born from the tides washing up to the rocky shore, a soft-pawed claw reaches out to touch the sand for the first time in his life. He feels nothing but the sense of relief when an older gentledragon- giant and sage-like, picks him up from his position and carries him back into a sturdy, homely lair. His name is promptly given to him. As dragons, thousands of times older than he is assesses his stature and brings upon him a gift- gleaming in the dark auburn light from the thousands of lamps strewn about. He grows up to be a spritely young lad. His skin shimmers of the radiant sun, a streak of light bouncing off the silk-textured hook of his beak. Racing to and fro with the dragons born from his adopted home. He still feels like an outsider- he always did. But the softness of wings and tails brushing up against him felt so wonderful-so marvellous, that he kept himself in that den.

YOUTH
He finds the lover he's always wanted. A charming girl with the same vigorous, unending spirit that he does. They dance to the sounds of crickets chirping, fireflies and dew from last rain dance around them as they kick up the grass. So fulfilled they are together. The elders need not know. He knows he respects them, but now he realizes that they take too much control of his life. He doesn't need that anymore. Commanding a choir of the thump of rabbit feet in iambic pentameter, he brings the love of his life to the middle of the woodgroves where they played together since young. He tells her of how much he adores her, how her eyes sparkle like the stars in the sky. Beautiful when far, firey and uncontrollable when up close. Her laugh echoes through the dark forests at night when he chases her around. Unmatched to anyone he had ever met before. Her personality, like the sweet sting of the first bite of a clementine in the morning. She was so different from the others, and he loved that about her.

QUIET SORROW
The elders would soon find out of their affair. After all, her heart had been sworn off to be with the elder spirits. She was to be untouchable-deity like, and they saw what was instead the boisterous dragon that stood by her side. Years had passed after that event, and the memory of his youth begins to fade. But he knows that he grieves for the loss of something that could have been. The tears from his eyes begin to well-up, circling around him in a cacophany of frustration and deep despair. He's forgotten so much. What does he have now? Only the elders know.
