Master of Disguise
Chaotic Good

There are few dragons in Clan _______ as mysterious as Rhea. Not willing to settle for just being a master of mimicry, she became a master of disguise, using a combination of Arcane magics and various apparel to disguise herself near perfectly as any dragon. Not even a difference in size can spoil her illusions, for she can create a temporary forcefield if the form of a larger dragon needs to touch something.

Probably.

The thing is, nobody has ever seen Rhea when she isn't disguised. And since it's relatively common to blame mistakes on Rhea disguised as oneself, or to just pretend to be her for a laugh, there's no proof she actually exists. And even if she did exist, she may have left the clan long ago, and nobody's noticed.

What is known is that she'd never use her talents for evil... but she definitely will use them to confuse everybody she ever meets. She might even be actively defending the clan, misleading threatening dragons through her various guises. Or perhaps she's simply having a laugh at her clanmates' expense.

Rumours of Rhea's true identity claim that she's easily distracted, and spends a lot of her time chasing small animals. Supposedly this is why she became an imposter - she was bored of being herself, and gets bored of being others pretty quickly as well.

Of those who believe in her, there is some contention on whether she uses illusions, or if she can actually shapeshift. Illusions seem the most likely, as they'd require less magic, and would explain the occasional time an imperial has been seen entering a room without a door they could possibly fit through.

At the very least, Rhea seems to be kind enough not to implicate any of her fellow clan members in something that would get them in hot water with the rest of Clan _______. Not that she doesn't trespass in other dragons' dens to rummage through their stuff. (Rhea especially likes all the fun lights and sounds that setting off anti-theft spells causes.) But when she does, she only seems to use made-up disguises, and not ones that look like other clan members. It might seem like disguising herself as the dragon that owns the den would make more sense, but what if that dragon walked in while she was there? Then there'd be proof of her existing!

And proof would spoil Rhea's fun. If other dragons knew she was Rhea, then she'd have to act like Rhea sometimes. And Rhea doesn't want to do that. If she even could. It's been so long since she was herself that she's not sure she remembers who Rhea even was.

But that might be for the best. Perhaps there's a reason Rhea didn't want to be herself anymore?

Zqfmgb has been asked to discover the truth behind her myth a couple of times, but while he always seems to attack the case with fervour at the start, within a few days it's as if he's completely forgotten about it. Perhaps this is another effect of Rhea's magic, or maybe he already knows the secret, and wants to protect it. Whatever the case, nobody is good enough at chess to beat him and find out.

She's possibly the one dragon that frustrates Minya the most, because for all of his information sources, he can't find a solid lead one way or the other. And as far as the fae is concerned, nobody is allowed to be better at keeping secrets than him. Should he ever find her, he plans to make Rhea wish she truly was a myth. As for Rhea, she's been enjoying keeping the spymaster in the dark. It's all just a game to her.
