ALCHEMIST'S NOTEBOOK

Periwinkle is a fountain of magic and energy. Inherited from her father, Periwinkle's magic is as bouncy and joyful as waves leaping towards the shore, and as about as chaotic. A spark grown into a wildfire, from a small beginning into a grand swath. Her mentor, Raindrop, seeks to help her control it with the ways of the Sages, to temper and tame the well of magic within her. But Periwinkle knows, somewhere deep inside her, that her magic is more than similar to the ocean's waves, it is as uncontrollable as the ocean, as chaotic and as vast as the depths of the sea. Rather than trying to tame it like her mentor wants, Periwinkle embraces the unruly and chaotic magic. It's whimsical, to follow it and be a conduit for it, and she finds no greater joy than when their desires are the same and the harmony of it sings through her.

Periwinkle loves to experiment. Her best friends are fellow magic users, Unakite and Primrose, and the alchemist of Magnolia, Chernobyl. With Unakite, Periwinkle tests out explosive spells and the other dragon's curious attitude of 'it might work this time' soon became Periwinkle's as well, and the two bonded very quickly. Unakite and Primrose were friends before Periwinkle, so Primrose got pulled along. Periwinkle loves how Primrose seems to be so regal and dignified but actually lights up when her friends get her to play with their magic in somewhat stupid but hilariously fun ways. Periwinkle also just adores Chernobyl's ability to make potions (that don't blow up) and goes to her with heaps of questions about how things react to each other in the cauldron. Periwinkle enjoys blowing things up though so sometimes she does the opposite of what Chernobyl recommends.

Periwinkle's husband Ekaitz is her opposite in many ways. He's calm, sedate and thoughtful, and his magic is like a trickle of a facet compared to her turbulent sea. He's also training to be a healer and spends his time studying books, something she herself rarely does. Doing feels better than just reading and thinking about it. But they work well together. Periwinkle feels something settle when she's with him, able to calm herself and not leap into the next impulse without a thought. Ekaitz, when he's with her, is faster to move, with a quick wit, and he smiles much more with her. They manage well enough away from each other but they feel better being together.

Periwinkle.

The oceanside marketplace is positively buzzing with activity, auctions going on and apparel being sold to any dragon with enough treasure. Off to the side of all the noise, however, you see a skydancer in flowing garb, beckoning you closer. The sign on her stall advertises some sort of sooth-saying service, but you're not so sure you can completely trust this one.
"Yes, come closer, I know your fortune. Yes, I grew up in the Water flight," she holds up a Water runestone as if it proves something, "I have the ability to predict your future just by how you look! It's just a gem, a thousand treasure. What'd'ya say?"

SeaBreeze does enjoy seeing new dragons, whether she's trying to scam them out of treasure for fake prophesy or not. No, you don't have to actually pay her to judge your dragon, but a tip is always appreciated!

You can set the scene! She can pop up virtually anywhere, scamming dragons can't be limited to just one area, after all! The more info you give me about why your dragon is there and what they're like, the more creative I can make her false prophesy! I must limit this to one dragon per person, unfortunately. I don't need a ping, as I'm following this thread, thank you though!

Periwinkle wiggles to the front of SeaBreeze's stall, excitement brimming over in both her fidgeting glide over and in her floating candles that flicker and send swirling bits of smoke in her trail. "Hello! Another water flight, hello, oh, it's so nice to see another!" Her grin is wide and she turns in a circle just to expend a bit of energy. "You'll tell me my future? Oh, I've been dying to ask this question, but the oracles in my lair wouldn't answer! Oh, they say they're far too dignified to answer like they have any dignity, Frigga's my age, she doesn't have to act so high and mighty!" Periwinkle swishes her feathered tail with a quickly-forgotten annoyance as she twirls into another spin and a grin. "Will you answer my question? What happens when you mix serthis venom and onyx cobra venom? And then set it on fire? Does it make gembond stones, or does it just explode? Is the explosion blue or purple?"

She twirls again, this time remerging with an explanation. "I experiment with potions and stuff, and the spells and I mix them together to see what they'll do, and I have to be careful yes, but I've been so ever so curious about just making the biggest explosion, but none of my home's oracles'll answer any bit of my questions!"

SeaBreeze seems taken aback by the sheer amount of energy in the spiral before her, but quickly regains her composure. "Ah yes, I know how fickle oracles can be. That is why I offer my sight to the world, so that they might see." She smiled at her rhyme.
"It doesn't take an oracle to say that mixing serthis venom and onyx cobra venom will create a powerful toxin indeed, even the smoke from its flame will harm a fully grown guardian." The lights around her danced, as if aware flame was being talked about. "As for gembond," she stood there a moment, truly thinking about what the outcome might be. One of her favorite people in her clan was an alchemist, though by far not so dangerous as the one before her, "I believe it might cause gembond gems with a lower heat, but it must be a stable low heat, unless you want the mixture to become volatile and explode, sending you into a coughing fit at the very best. The color will depend on which kind of serthis you obtained the venom from. Assuming it's not lethal, carmine serthis would make a lovely shade of red." She hoped that she listened to her little alchemist nearly enough to give a convincing, if almost completely falsified, answer.

Periwinkle makes a very considering hum, head tipped back as she thought through the answer. "Toxins, hm. I was kinda hoping for an explosion rather than poison. Like maybe the venoms would just negate each other and there'd be a huge reaction between them! Well, I don't want to knock anyone out... I could simmer it like fried eggs and get some pretty stones! Oh, but making a big explosion- but what if I add firestarter baubles? Oo, what if I add fireflowers? All together!" She twirled again, muffling giggles into her feathery tail. "Surely something will explode!"

She glances at the oracle's signs, her face falling. "Oh, one question only, right? Sorry!" Periwinkle wiggles around to find a gem to give to her. "Hehe, Raindrop doesn't know that I have some gems of my own! He'd never let me into the marketplace otherwise. He'd never let me buy all these Bonepriest Venom vials!" She shows the oracle her little bag full of them. Very concerning. She giggles again. "Don't worry! Even if I get a big ole poison cloud, my husband is training to be a healer! He says it's cuz of dealing with me all the time but I don't think that's a bad thing right? He's got a knack for it anyway and he's helping our lair, so I don't think he should say it like it's bad. Even if I am 'giving him white scales,'" she says with air quotes, mimicking her husband's annoyed tone. "Okay! Thank you for the help! I'll go and try this right away! Surely Kravitz will let me borrow his familiar, right? Carmine serthis!"

Then she's off, still mumbling about either whole firstarter baubles or crushed up ones, how many fireflowers, and other very dangerous combinations.

(hehe, thanks for answering! this is super fun to write with my dragons :D)
