Despite what she may say and how she may act, Cyra is very cowardly. She prefers to turn and run rather than stay and face whatever problem she has encountered. When confronted about this behaviour, she simply claims that it is an instinct of hers. Fight or flight, she just always chooses flight.
When there is no imminent danger, Cyra is a very good friend. She will always be there to offer words of comfort or an ear to simply listen. Many have described Cyra as giving off the feeling of "home" for always being there for them to return to whenever they have no where else to go.

For half of her life, Cyra was alone. She hatched from an abandoned egg all alone. She had nobody except herself. She assumed that she would always be alone. And she had no problem with that. She enjoyed being alone. At first.
Cyra is plagued by guilt from something she did when she was much younger. Rather than face the guilt and try to make things right, she ran, too afraid to fix what she did. Eventually she found herself in the Tangled Wood where she decided to stay for a while. She had always liked the territory. Perhaps it was because her scales were dark and blended in easy with the shadows.
Her world turned upside down when she runned into Kandis one day. The young hatchling reminded Cyra so much of the guilt that haunted her. So in a mix of wanting to rid herself of her guilt, wanting company and not wanting to leave the hatchling all by herself, Cyra adopted Kandis.
The guilt didn't go away and before Cyra knew it, she was the founder of an entire clan, taking in other dragons who also needed a place to call home like Kandis had. She has never told anyone of her guilt, praying that one day after helping as many as she can, it will go away.

A Short Story..
I remember when it was just the two of us. She was still so young when I found her in the woods all by herself. It was clear to me that she had run away from somewhere, but she was afraid to tell me where she had been running from. When I did finally get an answer out of her, I was certain that I would not let her go back.
She had been running from the Wasteland, her birth clan more precisely. Her entire clutch had been bred for the sole purpose of being exalted once they came of age, but she was afraid of that. If I were in her situation, I probably would have run as well. Of course I cannot say that with complete certainty, but who would want to go off and never see their family again? Not like I had any family I would be leaving behind…
Maybe that was the reason I wanted her to stay with me — I was lonely. I had been alone all my life after all. Part of the reason too was that I was not going to abandon a child in the middle of nowhere. So she followed me around from then on. She said she liked the Woods better than the Wasteland. Her favorite thing was the glowing mushrooms.
As she got older, I started to teach her how to hunt. At the time, I was teaching her the things she would need to know to survive on her own. I imagined she would want to go and explore the world on her own once she was old enough to do so. She was a very quick learner and that saddened me. It meant that it would not be much longer until she would be able to go off on her own, but if that was what she wanted, I would not stop her.
Things changed a year later. It was at that point in time that I had taught her most of what she would need to know. It was at that point in time that her skills were simply improving more and more each day. It was at that point in time that she called me ‘Mother’ for the first time, and it was at that point in time that I realized just how badly I did not want her to leave.
I thought about what I was going to say to her. My plan was to try and convince her to stay with me, to be family. It turned out that she did not actually want to leave either. She already had a place in mind for us to call home, as if she had been planning all of it for a while. It turned out that she had been planning all of it for a while.
Whenever she had free time, which was often, she went down to where the Woods met the Sea. There was a clearing in the trees along the shore of the water, and for months she had gone down there, clearing the area of debris. It was the perfect place to call home.
I never would have imagined that the guilt, which has haunted me for years, would have led to me forming a clan. I will never tell anyone what I did. I will simply state that what I did was horrible of me. Perhaps it is just as horrible of me to have used her to try and rid myself of my guilt. Perhaps it is horrible of me to have formed a clan knowing what I did. But the dragons that live here with us now have a place they can finally call home. No one needs to know what happened. It isn’t important anymore. But if that is really the case, why do I still feel all this guilt?
