Skadi

Skadi was raised in the shadow of the Fortress of Ends. Her Clan was proud to call themselves the stronghold’s most trusted wardens, and she was trained from her hatching to follow in her parents’ clawprints. She learned how to hunt and track through the snowy wastes of the Southern Icefield, and the spells to freeze another living creature in its tracks; she honed her skills and endurance until the name of Skadi the Huntress was respected among all the Clans of her home Flight. Then word came from the Starfall Isles: a letter written in haste, requesting the assistance of a warden to quell the wrath of a lawbreaker. Skadi was dispatched. When she reached the Lundlaevungar, they brought her to Fenrir. He was already in chains, put there by his own kin, but they needed more assurances after he had turned on his own Clan and bitten off the hand of Tyr. So Skadi became his shadow and his guardian. Skadi is the only one who can keep Fenrir in line when the lunar madness strikes. She is, it seems, the only thing he fears. She and her Cragward Custodian are often responsible for tracking him down when he flees with his monstrous wolf pack. Three members of the Lundlaevungar braved the cold and the dangers of the caverns of the Fortress of Ends during the Crystalline Gala of 2017. Mimir went in search of loot. Bucky hoped to find answers about his past. Skadi agreed to accompany her Clanmates in the hopes of keeping them safe in the treacherous ice-passages of Snowspire Caverns ...


2017

During the Crystalline Gala 2017, several of the Lundlaevungar took part in the Sornieth Winter Games, competing in a variety of cold-weather events against dragons and clans from every Flight as part of the festivities.

After their events, the clan members wandered the festival grounds, enjoying the other activities. Skadi somehow found herself at the "Adopt-a-Familiar" booth run by an energetic Spiral. The next thing she knew, Skadi had a native to the Boreal Woods (a Nochnyr) to take back to her clan with her. Jormungandr visited one of the winter gear booths and came out the proud owner of an Ice Pick. Skald went into a nearby booth with more of a fashion slant and settled on a black and white flair scarf to guard against the chill in the air. On his way out, a shy hatchling approached him, complimented him on his performance, and handed him a flower before scurrying off. Although their clan didn't make it onto the podium this year, they performed very respectably and impressed the judges.


2018

When the Clan travelled to Southern Icefield to celebrate the Crystalline Gala 2018, many of them were excited to watch the Sornieth Winter Games once again! A number of dragons also tried their hand at competing, many of them for a second time. The Lundlaevungar were understandably proud of their results.

2019

Several members of the Lundlaevungar spent the months leading up to the Crystalline Gala 2019 practicing for various events in the Sornieth Winter Games - and those who were not planning to take part were nonetheless excited to watch the competition unfold!



2020

The fifth annual Sornieth Winter Games saw clan members taking part in all the available activities for the first time. There were some returning athletes (most notably Ice natives Skald and Skadi) but it was the newcomers who saw the most success in terms of medals!

2021

The 2021 Sornieth Winter Games were a special occasion for the Lundlaevungar, marking five years of participation. The Lundlaevungar put in a good showing and achieved a couple of podium finishes! Next year the clan will be inducted into the Hall of Fame and receive the Clan Achievement Award.

2022

The Lundlaevungar were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022 as they returned for their sixth year of competition. The clan was particularly honoured to be chosen as flag bearer to lead out the athletes at the opening ceremonies, and even more proud and thrilled to receive the overall Gold Medal at the end of the Games!

2023

Following the clan's gold medal win the previous year, the Lundlaevungar returned to the Sornieth Winter Games once again. Despite not achieving any event medals on this occasion, the participants' strong scores resulted in an overall Bronze Medal for the clan!

2024

The 2024 Sornieth Winter Games saw a few new participants and plenty of returning competitors, including Thor's children trying their hand once again at Curling. There was even a huge result for long-time competitor Skald, who in his eighth year of taking part in the Speed Skating at last earned himself a Bronze Medal, much to the pride and delight of his family and clan!
