Biography

W A T E R C O L O U R
Artist, Keeper of Future Bios and Mate of Venus

nature.jpg
Watercolour works closely with Famiglia. She writes and styles them, and he delivers them. Once in a while she makes bios for dragons that Divine has told her will come along one day. There so-called "future biographies" are stored in Watercolour's den until the right dragons appear.

He gratly enjoys painting, and as his name suggests his favourite technique consists of painting on a wet canvas. He makes his living from this and are happy with his life. Sometimes he feel like there is something strange about his hobby. Soon after a picture is finished a dragon appears that wants that exact painting. It's like magic.

Deep inside he has always known he had an affinity for water, a second element. His paintings never smudge and he can clean his paintbrush with tiny droplets of water drawn directly from the air, or so it seems. He has yet to explore what he can do. He believes Pearl knows about his secret, as she has tried several times to recruit him to her gardener team. Venus hadn't noticed until he showed her, so how Pearl knows he has no idea.

When Venus arrived he was not present. He had been gone for a day, making a requested portrait of XXXXX by the cave entrance by the border of the wind and water domain, just below the Bamboo Falls. He remember them speaking softly as they neared the opening by the den's main entrance when they saw a group of their buddies sit around a very young tundra who told them stories of her journey. They were a bit too fascinated by her, he though. She was pretty yes, and her voice was like music yes, but their eyes were nearly feverish while looking at her. Something was very wrong. He held onto a drop of nature magic as he approached, using it as an anchor. Holding it enhanced his senses and he felt magic ***** against his skin and tongue. Magic? She looked uncomfortable. Why would someone so young enchant the audience when they didn't want the attention? His curiosity grew as he sat down to hear the stories. Later, after Flame Wheel broke up the group, he walked her to the guest quarters. She did not know at the time wether she would stay or not. She only decided that about a month later. They talked about their homeland, the Viridian Labyrinth. he came from the Everbloom Gardens, which were not so different from the XXXXXX where he grew up. He had never heard of her clan name. After some time she got control of her leaking magic, and their lives became easier.

He has an emerald webwing named Oscar. He caught him during his second training session. His tutor was surprised he really wanted that shabby thing as his first pet, but after some care the little bird shone like a cat.

As dragons live far longer than other animals, Oscar is now quite old. Watercolour has not decided if he wants another familiar if Oscar passes away. He says they can always share Venus' oyster, but she thinks he will run back to the training fields to catch a new one.

Oscar, however, don't seem to understand anything they say. He just sits on their shoulders, eat and play with his toys like he has always done. He is quite the nice guy.

LOG
He was won by Watercolor in the SS advent calendar raffle December 20th. He was listed as #1 for the day. I then sent watercolour a PM and asked for a ping if he ever had an offspring. As they saw I had used my extra tickets in the raffle, they were so kind as to gift him to me. Thank you so much!!! As Watercolour is a pretty name, really fit him and I felt really grateful I named him after them. He is my first dragon with stained, and the only one first with stained that I have fallen for.

He is the lore mate of Venus, but I am willing to breed him with other dragons upon request.

Like the stone they were first carved from, Sentinels can be very firm. Once they make a decision, it can be very difficult to persuade them otherwise. On the other hand, like the Wind magic that first brought them to life, they can be very free spirited. The only bonds a Sentinel will suffer are the ones they've chosen for themselves. But perhaps most importantly, Sentinels are patient, protective, nurturing, and kind. Exactly what makes them such wonderful guardians for Wind eggs and hatchlings without parents to guide them. Sentinel culture values tradition and honors their origins. It is considered a right of passage when the young Sentinels are sent to find their first hatchlings and eggs to shelter. They will throw a large party to see them off. Their lives, like themselves, are full of the contradictions of hard and soft. Rock collecting is sort of a thing for Sentinels, and they tend to have familiars that reflect either this or their windy nature. These are the dragons who thrive on feeling the current flow through them. They worm their way out to the tips of the spires and absorb the electrical energy within their bodies (which have evolved to manage the bursts of energy), after which they then make their way to a spire that is picking up less electricity and deliver the excess to. This way the power stations that are getting less energy can recoup their losses much more easily. If a spire is dangerously low on power, a hoard of spirals can band together to span the length of a gap between the low-power spire and one receiving more energy. When the lightning strikes, it channels along the bridge of spirals to the low-power spire much faster. They work in very rapidly rotating shifts. Whenever one of the dragons has completely depleted itself of electrical energy after working for some time, it flies back to the large copper tube underneath the spires' rubber insulator to rest. But there will always be at least ten dragons at any given time maintaining the power levels of the varying spires in the lightning farm, and on a busy day or night, upwards of forty dragons can be manning the spires.
