Leaf Messenger I was born in one of Lightning's factories. My father was a loyal worker, eager to help the Stormcatcher, but my mother Griffon was unhappy in the factory. She was too stubborn for the factory's strict regimen and too much of a loner for the the factory's close quarters. Griffon was a capable dragon, but preferred to rely on her own strength instead of being part of group. And so when I was still a hatchling we moved to the Scarred Wasteland. I have very few memories from before our journey. My childhood took place almost entirely in the Wasteland, and yet one of the moments that has shaped my life was traveling through the Windswept Plateau. It was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. I loved it, and was sad when we had to keep moving. The Scarred Wasteland was a barren, evil place. Mother was at home in the deadly swamp, but father wouldn't have survived even the first night without her. Griffon was a survivalist; he was an employee. They both had a strong work ethic, but my father SapphireSnake could only survive as part of a team. I hated the place, and spent my days flying high into the air to escape the stench. I challenged myself to become more fast and more agile. Flying was my joy. As soon as I was old enough I left Plague territory. I flew south, hoping to return to the Windswept Plateau. It was a breath of fresh air. I found other dragons who adored flying, including Zephyr, who I am still friends with today. I was a fast flyer already, and I became faster. When dragons started asking me to deliver things for them, I realized I could become a messenger. It would be a dream come true: flying all day, helping other dragons, and seeing Sornieth. Around that time Zephyr decided to seek out a new clan. As happy as I was in Wind territory, I was itching for a change. We found the Dragons of the Amethyst Scale, where I live now. I have become their messenger, a job I love. One day one of my clanmates asked me to deliver some supplies to Junglesunbeam, the clan's alchemist. Before that I hadn't met the pearlcatcher. While I made my delivery she was quiet and reserved, but there was something about her that made me want to get to know her better. I visited her the next day, and, chatterbox that I am, coaxed her into a conversation. Soon her lively side came out. Junglsunbeam was interesting and optimistic. She told me about her work as an alchemist, and I told her about being the clan's messenger. After an especially funny story, Junglesunbeam laughed. Her laugh was clear and bright, and as soon as it ended I longed to hear it again. I wanted to be funny to make her laugh that beautiful laugh again. I visited her often. A year later, I realized I was in love. She too felt the love between us, and we have become mates.

A wildclaw swoops down onto your doorstep. The feather in his hat bobs up and down as he lands, and his cape swirls around him.
"I am Robin Hood!" he calls. "If your clan is rich in treats, I will steal some of it." A pearlcatcher floats down behind him. She is wearing a green dress and has flowers in her hair. "Ah, Maid Marian. I think I have found our next target." She smiles.
"Shall we sneak in quietly and surprise them, or create a diversion and ask our familiars to sneak in while the clan investigates?"
"Neither," Robin Hood says. "Trick or treat!" They both giggle.

A wildclaw runs up to your doorway, a pearlcatcher just behind him. A book and some tools are strapped to his side and he wars goggles. "Greetings! I am Leaf and, for this one night, an inventor!"
The pearlcatcher has painted her skin to look like machinery, and she is wearing robotic gear. "Wait for me," she says in a monotone. "I'm trying to walk like a robot, so I can't go as fast."
"Sorry. I just get so excited!"
"And to think, I had to convince you to come," she says, slipping out of her robot voice.
"I haven't said trick or treat yet. You do the honors this time."
The pearlcatcher smiles and calls out, "Trick or treat!"
