Aviur
Father of Fire and Flame
Fallen King of Fire Drakes

Before the tick of a clock’s hand had passed, on the dawn of the very first day, Aviur rose.

Forged from the flames themselves, a demigod among deities. Aviur, the brilliant being of flame and smoke lifted his muzzle high into the air taking in the enticing scents of rivals. All across the globe the elemental deities were creating drakes in their likeness.

The flames from which he was born granted him brothers and sisters, each uniquely designed to aid in the reign over their kingdom. Together they formed the Ashen Council.

Elemental likenesses grew in number, forming loss groups that grew into strong nations. Natural rivals began to war, for which more beings were created. Dragons, creatures whom could wield some of the magic of drakes began to scatter the land in servitude.

Aviur lead the Ashen Council in their reigned over the land, each brother and sister an essential unbreakable link.

It began as a weakening in himself. The flame he and his drake kin feed off was being drained by the ever growing fire allied dragon populations.

Unable to convince the Ashen Council of this looming threat he fled to Kyros Vasuman in hopes his brother would help him to remove the dragons that fed off their precious flames. By the time Aviur was able to reach Vasuman the once shinning drake had fallen to an illness of the mind. Taking control of the Scorched Legions Aviur lead a purge of fire bound dragon.

To protect the future of dragon kind the Ashen Council sealed Aviur among the Catacombs of Fiord at the far reaches of the Southern Icefield. Frozen in this tomb Aviur remained painstakingly aware of each dragon birth. Parasites draining energy from his being.

By the time his kin realized his fears to be true it was too late, each fire drake lost its power before falling intern.

His name and memory lost to all but those who lay dormant themselves. Alone Aviur faced the frigid darkness, at long last the last fire drake fell. His body left to reside among the ice flow.

~

Continents changed.

Ice sheets shifted and fell as southern flowing currents pulled along with them the warmth of tropical regions.

Light ate through the ice domed ceiling sending slivers cascading into the dark tomb. Dust danced upon these rays, coming to rest on the now pail scales of the once great beast. This trace warmth caused dormant lungs to fill, heaving hide that felt more dead than alive.

Heavy wet drops fell from the melting ceiling creating shallow bowls of life giving water. Aviur drank for the first time, ate what mistakenly fell into grasp.

The reflected eyes of a dragon watched from the ever growing pools of his prison, for he was a drake no more. The energy of roaring flames from once he had drawn his power was nothing more than a flick in his breast.

Weakened he struggled through the newly formed gap in his tomb, to rise into the sun of a foreign world.

Blinded and exhausted Aviur took refuge on his melting drift, energy spent he sunk into a near death state.

~

He awoke to the soft flicker of a fire, the chill of ice replaced by warmth of fur bedding. Rising he stepped onto stone, then from the hallways of this lair found himself upon soft supple leaves.

The bright sky above held clouds of white and gold. Nearby cliffs carried a warm breeze that rustled his faded wings.

Miska, tell me. Are we dead?” Aviur’s voice whispered to the on looking Wildclaw who had served him years ago in a different form.

“Not yet Master.”

For all the relief Miska’s presence brought him it was paled in comparison by the joy that filled him upon the sight of his brother. If no others were to survive then he could at least be thankful for Vasuman.

“Brother, with you by my side we shall finish this.”

Vasuman allied with Sirion sought out aid in Aviur’s recovery. A bitter sweet process in which Aviur fought valiantly against Vasuman’s will, tempting him to free the recovering Imperial so he could return what was once theirs.

Aviur’s mind unchanged he found himself a prisoner once more. Never let far from the sight of a powerful dragon, some of which had sealed him in the ice so long ago. His endless search to break free only hampered by the occasional spark of interest the return of a rival brings.

Vasuman and Miska fill Aviur’s prison cell with joy and laughter, as Sirion and Lugh look on wondering if the last fire drake will accept this world or at long last be forced to parish with his kind.

To be continued in other Dragons Lore.
