Biography
Zeitgeist is very mysterious and makes an impression of an experienced person even though he seems to be quite young (which everyone knows is a lie). He often tells incredible tales and not only hatchlings but the whole clan listens to them carefully. Some say that he can travel time, some say he's already dead and the thing they see is just a ghostly figure dressed in spikes. Nobody actually knows him. The only sure thing about him is the fact that he appeared out of the blue and one day he might disappear without a trace. |
The Wildclaw cleared his throat and looked over at all the dragons that gathered around him, eagerly waiting for his next tale. A smile inched it's way onto his face.
All the faces shown bright with interest, a few dragons whispering and exchanging excited looks with their friends. Then, the wildclaw finally spoke up. "Are you all ready for my next story?" he asked. The dragons all nodded. "Yes! Please tell us, Zeitgeist!" A hatchling replied. "Yeah! Please tell us!" said another. "All right, all right, settle down now..." Zeitgeist sat down on the rock he was standing on. "Alright, what story should I tell this time? Hm...." he tapped his chin in thought. After a moment, he came up with an idea. "Ah... I know! Have I ever told you all the story of the Lone Wanderer?" The dragons shook their heads. "It's a very interesting tale." he began. "A long time ago, a young dragon who others titled The Lone Wanderer, decided to explore a strange place named 'Vaii'qonea'. Now, The Lone Wanderer was always known for exploring dangerous and weird places. Vaii'qonea, this region was very wild, and contained woods so tangled and thick that he couldn't even see the sky above him. He knew journeys like these could kill him. But that was besides the point. These woods weren't anything similar to the Viridian Labrynth, not at all. The plants weren't lush and green, instead, it looked similar to a swamp. And all of the trees and bushes were purple and red, a thick cloud of mist hanging low. It was hard to see anything, really. But despite this, he didn't turn back. The Lone Wanderer decided to travel through this odd place in search of anything interesting, despite how hard it was to see. After a while of scavenging Vaii'qonea, something caught his eye. Through the thick fog, was an outline of some sort of large building. As he got closer, he recognized it as a temple, vines and moss wrapping around it, causing the structure to appear ancient. Curious, The Lone Wanderer crept closer. As he did, he realized how tall it was. It loomed over the thick woods, and he was unable to see the peak of it. Tempted to go inside and explore, he began walking towards the entrance. But just as he was about to enter the abandoned temple, a scuttering sound echoed throughout the silent forest. He slowly looked in the direction it came from. There was something crawling towards him. Something big. Far bigger than him, too big. It seemed to resemble a bark centipede. The creature raised it's upper body and looked down at The Lone Wanderer, It's beady eyes seeming to stare right through him. It's antennae twitched once, and then it shrieked at the dragon. The giant centipede lunged at him, and he was only able to dodge it by a hair. The centipede turned and instantly lunged at him again. The Lone Wanderer lept into the air and took flight, before flying right back down. Before the creature had a chance to react, he landed on its head. The centipede thrashed and rolled in an attempt to get the dragon off, but he dug his claws in so deep they pierced the skin, refusing to let go. It let out a shriek of pain. He forced himself to crawl farther up the beast. Then, he raised his talons and scratched it across the eyes, blinding it. It stumbled back, disoriented, before it fell backwards. The Lone Wanderer would have been squashed, but thankfully, he launched off the monsters back before it could hit the ground. The monster collided with the earth, dust flying up and mixing in with the fog. The only thing he could see was the silhouette of the centipede. It began to move. The centipede turned it's body and got off it's back, but it couldn't see at all. So instead, it used the antennae to locate him again. Just as it did, he attacked again, running at the monster at full speed. Before the creature could react, The Lone Wanderer had already decapitated it. It's body fell and squirmed around, then, after a few minutes, it fell limp. Satisfied, he walked towards the entrance again. 'No giant bug is going to scare me away...' he grinned to himself and walked inside, then paused. All around him were whispering. Soft voices murmuring in the dark temple. 'The time has come...' a voice whispered. 'He has come to find the treasure.' 'The treasure shall be given to the one that seeks it...' said another. 'Do you want the treasure, wanderer?' The voices all whispered to him, and it drew him deeper into the temple. The sound of treasure intrigued him, and he wanted to find whatever was hidden inside. The temple, on the inside, was just as big as the outside. Crumbling walls and hanging moss littered it. a few vines hung in his face. 'Beware... beware...' the voices whispered. 'The treasure is a danger.' 'It is a threat, and it is a gift. Continue at your own risk.' 'Turn back, or perish...' He didn't turn back. The Lone Wanderer continued on despite the warnings he was given, simply dismissing it. As he walked through the temple, he learned that there were several rooms he had to go through in order to reach this very treasure. Puzzles, riddles, obstacles...." "Did he get through them?" a dragon asked. "Don't interrupt the story," Zeitgeist responded. "Anyways, as I was saying... The first room had a floor made of lava, a roof made of spikes, and a closed door on the other side of the room. The Lone Wanderer stood on a platform as he looked out over the room. Next to him on the wall, he noticed, was a lever. 'Maybe if I pull this, the door would open?' he thought. The dragon pulled the lever. Indeed, he was right. it did open, but at the same time, the spikes on the ceiling began to descend. In a panic, The Lone Wanderer spread his wings and began to fly towards the door, the spikes gaining speed quickly. The spikes were pushing him closer to the lava. So either he'd be stabbed, burned, or he'd make it out alive. The door was just in sight. Seconds before he was impaled by the spikes, The Lone Wanderer gave a barrel roll right through the door. just as he did, the door he had just went through was blocked. He sighed in relief before going onto the next room. Into the next room, it's overrun with vegetation and spider webs. The floor is tangled with roots and thick brambles, and spider webs litter the walls. Carefully, he tread through the room, being cautious of the roots and brambles. The room carried an eerie creaking sound in it, but other than that and the occasional scuffles of... something, it was rather silent. As The Lone Wanderer continued on, he felt like something was... Watching him. He glanced around uneasily, but seemed to find nothing. Just as he thought there was nothing there, a large spider dropped from the ceiling, attempting to drop on him. But, The Lone Wanderer noticed the spider before it landed. He flew out of the way as quickly as he could, the spider only missing him by mere inches. The spider turned and raised it's arms menacingly, hissing. The Lone Wanderer glared at the large spider and then flew up into the air, before then diving down and clinging onto it's back with his claws. The spider thrashed angrily, trying to get the dragon off of him. but, The Lone Wanderer would not let go. He dug his teeth into the spider and it thrashed even harder. Finally letting go of it and getting off, the Spider scrambled away and crawled back onto the ceiling. The Lone Wanderer huffed, then proceeded on. The next rooms grew more difficult as he traveled on. Each one was just a tad more deadly than the last. And it seemed as though the farther he moved on, the louder the voices became. Finally, he came to the room with the supposed 'treasure' inside it. A beam of light shone down from a hole in the roof. In front of him, lay a luminous scroll. He walked closer. The voices were now shrieking at him. 'Turn back!!' 'Turn back now!! Or face your fate!!' Alas, The Lone Wanderer did not listen. He walked over to the scroll and took it into his talons. Slowly, he opened it. Multiple runes and ancient spells were written in the scroll, and despite the voices warning him, screaming at him to stop, he read it. But once he did, a bright light surrounded him. The light vanishes. The Lone Wanderer is gone, and the temple is silent. To this day, nobody know what ever happened to The Lone Wanderer. Perhaps he died... Or perhaps, he is still walking among us." With that, Zeitgeist finished his tale. The dragons who were so keen to listen to his story clapped, applauding him. "That was a great story, Zeitgeist!" one dragon said. "Yeah!" said another. Zeitgeist smiled. "It's a pleasure to share it with you." Then, he stood up. But one of the hatchlings crawled over. "Zeitgeist?" the hatchling asked, "Did you ever know The Lone Wanderer?" Zeitgeist looked down at the hatchling. "...Yes. let's just say, I knew him very well" he replied. He gave the hatchling a smile, then walked off. But as he walked away, the hatchling could have sworn they had seen him vanish for a moment.
