Biography
Fereneel
Clan Leader
Clan Leader
Some dragons believe that Fereneel was born to be a leader. As much as her attitude towards leadership was something she was taught to be, she really has the perfect personality to lead a clan: a fair amount of determination and ambition to push it forward, ability to listen to the concerns of the dragons under her protection, the skills needed to make everyone feel at ease even when not everything is doing okay. All of this combined with a strength that inspires trust and doesn't make anyone feel oppressed by her lead. When known personally, she can be unexpectedly clumsy and goofy, but also quite closed off on a personal level: after painful things that happened in her past, she is now much more careful when it comes to trust other dragons, and constantly on the watch for dragons that seem more interested in her position as the leader of the clan rather than her as an individual.
Raised as a pawn by a few dragons who were unsatisfied with the management of the clan during the Quadrumviratum, Fereneel spent her childhood traveling constantly between the Starfall Isles and the Ashfall Waste. While her adoptive parent Flan merely wanted her to get in touch with her inner nature and grow to enjoy the culture she partially represented, many other Coatls of the lair were already training her to be the perfect leader, and took great care into forging her skills and character for that.
The plan worked, and Fereneel saw herself become the youngest Flight representative the Clan ever had after Endymion, and later on, the youngest Leader ever. Her first period of leadership went smoothly, and Fereneel really believed that everything was going well: she got to move their clan to the Ashfall waste, much to the joy of the other Fire dragons of the lair and the Coatls, and most of the dragons seemed to be adapting well to her. One of the previous leaders, Duariah, confessed his attraction to her and seemed to be the best mate possible. All was great. At least until she found out that her two henchdragons, Soraly and Hebel, were filtering the information that she needed and forcing to leave whoever wouldn't accept Fereneel as the leader. Until she found out that most dragons would rather look for Amaltea, Tafeirinmen or even Entarge, because Fereneel was always so unapproachable and deaf to their needs. Until Duariah revealed himself to be what he'd always been: a dragon whose thirst for power was strong enough to make him betray his previous mate and trick the youngest clan leader into a one-sided relationship. Despite feeling hurt and devastated by the revelations, Fereneel didn't spend time to mourn. She took all the necessary measures: she stripped Soraly and Hebel from their title and revealed their true colors to the whole clan, she chased Duariah from the clan, and last but not least she reformed once again the leadership system of the clan, making it so that there would be at least one representative per Flight. The new change, as it can be imagined, wasn't easy for anyone: it took effort, sacrifice, and the departure of several dragons who were feeling too hurt, unsatisfied or angry to stay. But it seems now that the clan has finally settled in an era of peace, after so long. |
