The Amberheart Museum, small as it is, has an impressive fossil collection. Folks tend to think earth territory should be the best place to find fossils, and it is chock full of old bones, but the Windswept Plateau is a surprisingly good place to look. See, earth is where everyone goes to look, so the easy to find fossils are all taken, but no one thinks to come to wind to dig. Wind dragons are too flighty, their heads in the clouds. They don't want to dig in the dirt. Why worry about the far-flung past when we could look to the future, create and discover and adventure?

Most of its fossils are supplied by Anning. Her interests lie in paleontology more than archaeology, but they're inextricably linked on Sornieth. Is that fossil a dragon, or a reptilian beast? Is that a pottery shard, or a chunk of stony hide? Beastclans relics are another question entirely. Anning could go on for hours about the subtle differences between Longneck pottery and early wind pottery, the biodiversity in wind-found fossils, the strangeness of things found deep, deep underground.

Anning loves her work deeply, whether she's got her claws in the dirt or carefully dusting limestone off mineralized bone. She works closely with Yarrow to create the perfect display for her finds, helping him cast replica bones or design realistic backdrops. Despite her adventuresome nature and dramatic stories, she's terrified of the archives, instead bribing Yarrow to get things for her.

Anning is enthusiastic and curious, brave and kind. she's also extremely intelligent- well, about certain things. Social interaction confuses her, but she can identify a skull at twenty paces in seconds. She could list every known creature to live in a hundred mile radius for the last millennium, but is baffled by the idea of someone flirting with her. Especially if that someone is the reanimated fossil of an ancient warlord, like her partner Archaea, who Anning found in a bank of limestone. Long story.

Her fur and feathers are dirt-brown, and her white patches are usually dirt-brown too. She almost always has earthy smudges on her hands and face, dust on her clothing and clay under her claws. She carries her tools with her everywhere, and her long coat is lined with pockets, all full of interesting rocks or shells or bits of pottery. Her eyes are bright, her scruffy mane tied back with one of a rotating selection of bandannas.
