We respect our elders. Wisdom can only come from experience. Granted that faith cannot be proved, what harm will come to you if you gamble on its truth and it proves false? If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing.
To me, age doesn't make a difference in terms of how playful or fun life can be.
A gentle breeze swept over the land, flowing through Sigma’s long whiskers and mane. He closed his eyes in satisfaction and sighed, “Ah, some peace and quiet.”
That peace and quiet quickly left with the wind as a horde of overly-active and hyper hatchlings ran up and pounced on him. Sigma let out a short-lived scream as he toppled down to the ground, making the hatchlings laugh out loud.
“Arrgh!” groans out Sigma, “these fine heroes have brought down the mighty beast! Arghh! It hurts, oh it hurts, oh the pain!”
The hatchlings laughed again, rolling around in the green grass. “I have taken down this fearsome beast! Worship me all of you,” shouted a tiny little dragon at friends. They laughed and played along, bowing before him and calling him "King". They played for a few more minutes before Sigma’s apprentice came and quieted them down, much to their dislike.
“Now, now,” she said, “Teacher is quite tired-“
“No, I’m not!” Sigma protested, making the hatchlings laugh and causing the worrisome apprentice to glare at him.
“-And his back hurts. So enough slaying for today, my little warriors. How about we just listen to Teacher’s stories, eh?”
The hatchlings, who looked sad that their playtime had ended, brightened again. There was a chorus of cheers and excitement as they all begged for Sigma to tell them one of his stories. The older dragon jokingly rolled his eyes and huffed.
“All right, all right! What story do you want to hear?”
Wise beyond his years,
experience has taught him well.
Where once there were fears,
now knowledge can quell.
Stories and wonders
are passed down the line,
for surely there will be blunders
but none of which mine.
Peace and tranquility are treasured
above all else for
it is an immense pleasure
and not at all a bore.
