Nahnie was originally part of another clan, but the peace and safety of her childhood was vanquished quickly. During Nahnie's 10th hatch-day celebrations, a pack of Corpse Cleaners attacked their home on the Plague-wards edge of the Windswept Plateau. The young Fae was lost during the fighting and she traveled far, searching for her family. She was taken in by a Plague Clan, where she was taught the art of combat, or, in the words of her instructor, the art of showing no weakness. When the leadership of the clan changed, Nahnie was cast out. She traveled to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, intent on carving out a living for herself away from other dragons. However, grey-eyed Destiny had other plans for the young Fae. She fell in with Taeria and Durion, helping build the clan and forming a strong bond with Taeria. Eventually, as Nahnie had become quite dear to the Leading Pair, Taeria approached her with the offer to become part of their family. Initially delaying the adoption ceremony, she went through with it after several months of bonding with the cautious Durion. As a hunter and guard in the early, short-staffed days of the clan, Nahnie was frequently assigned to partner with Deneb on duties, which was a golden pairing from the get-go. Nahnie's ego and methodical approach to things combined with Deneb's lack of rose-tinted goggles and quick decision making made them a match to be reckoned with on missions. Eventually (and by eventually this historian means after two years of wretched, wretched pining and tension, Nahnie marched up to him and proposed very bluntly), they threw in the towel and got married, which changed exactly nothing except Deneb's fear of Taeria. They firmly decided not to have children until the clan was firmly settled into Leviathan Trench and the Cavernas Altorum was up and running, which took almost a decade. Finally, their children hatched: Maendia, Ssarys, and Crysi. |
