NADIA
HEALER
The clan founder who chooses to tend to the sick and injured of the clan.

Bright and focused, but often silent.

Nadia flicked her crests in irritation as she wrapped Bantu's paws yet again. Although it was as large as the Fae's body, she tirelessly flew around it to make the bandage tight. Oh, how she longed for the day the Icewarden would approve her change into a Wildclaw. Maybe then the young fighter would think twice before opening his wounds, yet again.

Shooting him another sharp glance, Nadia cut the wrap and secured it in place, patting his palm to let him know she was finished. Bantu flexed his forepaw tentatively, then chuckled.

"Thank you, Nadia," the Imperial spoke in a lighthearted tone, "I'm sorry you have to patch me up so often recently. I'll be more careful on my patrols in the future."

The small Fae snorted at his remark, showing her disbelief. Still, she smiled at his kind words. Bantu never made her feel isolated, even though there’s a language barrier between them. As the only Fae of the clan, Nadia often felt left out of the picture. She doesn’t like talking, since her tone only confuses the dragons more. Instead, the dragoness opts to use body language to help her communicate.

Nadia brought herself up to eye-level with Bantu and pressed her nose to his cheek, showing her thanks. He smiled, and on his way out of her den he said, “Naga told me to pass on a message. She’ll be visiting you after her hunt to get the salve for the hatchlings cough.” Nadia expanded her crest in excitement and dashed off to get the salve together as Bantu left.

Nadia acts as the healer of Clan Istas. She tends to the young and the ill, making sure everyone is 100% healthy and comfortable. She enjoys her work, regularly venturing out into the tundra to gather herbs and berries for her stores. When she needs to talk, the small Fae relies on her friend Naga to translate for her. As an Empath, Naga doesn’t need to understand the Fae language to speak to her, and they’ve grown very close because of it. With the two of them working together, the clan has never been healthier, and has never felt so close-knit as it does now.

When Nadia started the clan, it was more care-free. Drakes would come and go as they pleased in the Viridian Labyrinth, and the young Fae liked it that way. Her days were spent mostly gathering herbs and studying their properties while her mate, Eridanus, would hunt for the two of them. Nadia didn’t mind that the two dragons were mostly on their own. She felt at peace under the gentle gaze of the Gladekeeper.

That is, until she met Bantu.
----
Nadia and Eridanus had been skirting the Emperor dragon for days now, warning the other dragons to stay clear of its path. How it had managed to enter the Viridian Labyrinth, they didn’t know, but the Fae wasn’t going to let anyone die before it was contained. Nadia had been watching from a distance when the ground shifted and a terrible gurgling, screeching noise caused the wildlife to run in fear. Someone had provoked the Emperor. As Nadia whirred closer, the hulking beast let out another nightmarish howl as he entangled a young Imperial in its breath. He desperately clawed his way out of the roots and struggled to get away, but the Emperor slashed at him, leaving a large wound on his left flank. Nadia knew he wouldn’t last long, and without thinking, she flew out from her hiding place and slashed at the Emperor’s eyes with her nature magic. Howling, it turned its other heads in her direction, snapping at her. She managed to dodge them and distract the beast as her clan-mates carried the Imperial to safety. After maneuvering left and right, she managed to lose the Emperor in the Shrieking Wilds, thanking the Gladekeeper that she blended in. As its cries echoed throughout the jungle, Nadia knew they could not stay there anymore.

They had to find a new home.

----
After nursing Bantu back to health, Nadia gathered the clan together and set off to the Southern Icefields, where Bantu had assured that it was a good place for a new lair. It was there that they found Naga, a young Imperial from the Sea of a Thousand Currents on the run from an arranged marriage. She had been severely injured while fleeing from her parents, and Nadia had set her bones and allowed Bantu to carry her until she had recovered.

When they had arrived at the Snowsquall Tundra, Nadia had realized that she wanted a big clan, a family. But where she had failed in leading her small clan, Bantu had succeeded beyond measure. He was a natural, taking charge during emergencies and getting jobs done quickly. Once their lair was complete, Nadia had seceded her role to Bantu, and he graciously accepted. They took up the name Istas, and the clan has prospered ever since.

Nadia still keeps a bit of home with her in the Icefields, making her den out of the amber she saved from the Labyrinth. Her home may be in Ice, but her heart will always be with the Gladekeeper.
