HALCYON

He/Him | Priest

Halcyon is a soft spoken dragon, one of the Drakewood’s clergy. He takes his faith very seriously, he firmly believes coming to the clan to serve the Goddess was his destiny after all. Though generally well liked, some dragons find Halcyon odd. He often can be found meditating, quite literally connecting himself with the flora around him. Though close with his plants, his closest relationship is that with his fellow clergyman and mate Cygnus. While the gentle, earthy skydancer and the rather pretentious tundra may seem an odd match, the two care deeply for one another, fulling accepting of eachothers oddities and bonding over their life’s calling.

Although not nature born, Halcyon is very in tune with the plants around him, and excels in wielding the Gladekeeper’s blend of magic.He often extends his magical signature out to nearby plants, allowing for them to draw off of his energy and vice versa. When attempting to do this with the Great Oak, he discovered sentience, and it was there his close relationship with Aja, the drake spirit inside, began. This skill with plants is what led him to seek out The Gladekeeper's temples, and he soon began to feel at home among them.
Due to his unique skill, Halcyon is the only one in The Drakewoods who can commune with Aja, and it’s his duty to relay her messages to the rest of the clergy, who record her every word. While holding a clear reverence for her, Halcyon is unique in that he also considers her to be a friend. Though she is much different, closer to plant than dragon in her consciousness, he is able to piece together parts of her past and help figure out the dragon Aja once was.
Aja was not her name, that has been lost to time, and not even the spirit herself remembers it. It was Halcyon who suggested Aja, he felt strongly she should have a name. The spirit is worshipped by the clan as a demigod, and by being her speaker, Halcyon has gained quite a bit of respect, though he does not let this go to his head.
Halcyon doesn’t share the love for the seekers drawn to The Great Oak his mate does. Truth be told he finds them too noisy for his liking, though he respects the role they play in the ecosystem. He much prefers silent creatures, like plants or beetles.
At the end of the day he often retires with Cygnus in their shared den, Halcyon drinking berry water and his mate a glass of raspberry wine, sharing the events of the day. He does not share the affinity for gossip his mate does, though he enjoys listening to him speak, and will share any information he’s learned, if just to hear his mates delighted reactions.
